  1. Hi and welcome to the forum. There are lots of DT owners on here so you are in good company. A lot of the UK 2 stroke fans were at a rally over the weekend so sit tight as they start to appear and help will start to flow.
  2. I booked today and Tuesday, just to make sure. Great to meet the regular faces and Paul Oldtimer for the first time too. Hopefully Blackhat will get the group photo up soon.

I refer you to the answer in exactly the same post you posted in another part of the forum.

A picture and the first part of the frame number would help.
  8. I left with the choke on and the intention to ride home like that. I only lasted a mile and i switched it off. I could run a hotter plug but I will examine the carb first. The carb did seem to clear for short distances on the way home and it ran fine, albeigt only for short distances. I need to rebuild the origninal engine first. Signs to where? You do know there is a Bolton in Connecticut! A race now between Kev and John. Who gets home last.

    Get well soon Kishan.
  10. Yep mate, thanks. 2 petrol stops though!! The carb cleared for 2 short periods on the ride home and the bike went, and sounded, fantastic. Only lasted for a couple of miles. Got in before midday, coffee, fuel and ciggie stop and then a splash and dash fuel stop. Good bikes those Suzukis
  11. Squires 2012 2 stroke ride out and YOC meet video here LINKY
  12. 40 degrees here. Unfortunately Fahrenheit.
  13. Hi John, Drive safely. I hope to get there 3:30/4ish.
  14. They all do that. You could go for a pair of trousers without protectors and use enduro type hard protection. Google "Enduro knee protectors". These fit to you a bit like football shinpads. Weise is a very good make, in my opinion BTW.

I have plug chopped a few time between 2 plugs. The plug always looks very good. I was/am beginning to think this is a fuel flow issue rather than jets. When I brought the bike the carb was in a bit of bits. It is not the correct carb for the bike anyway but I think it is off a later ER. The carb had been stripped and rebuilt with new ER jets but I also think that the carb bowl is not off an ER either as the gasket didn't fit. I did have an inline filter on it which may also have sucked up grot from the old orange tank and the fuel line it came with was very thin and may have been collapsing. So far I have moved the jet needle circlip 1 notch to make the fueling richer. Cleaned and adjusted the plug gap (there was a fair bit too large a gap). I popped into my local Yami dealer and brought some proper 6mm fuel line and a couple of different new inline filters. All fitted and done. I also adjuster the pilot screw. After ticking over on it's stand it will now rev into the red. I haven't tried it on a road test yet. I will road test it tomorrow when I get some fuel for the journey. I also need to get some 2 stroke oil because I forgot that on my trip to Halfords today.

    Bienvenue.
  17. It may be too much for the first long run for me. Especially as it has carb issues. Depending on the most direct twisties roads I am getting 88 to 98 miles from different sites from mine to Squires.

Cheers mate. I have just looked at the Keyster kit I brought and it had a 200 main jet in it.

Hi Paul. Yes, yes - I think so and can't remember to be honest. If you remember at Stafford I was on the hunt for a carb? The carb fitted is off an ER and I think that the main should be 200.
  20. Bogging down at 50/55 (5k rev's) at the moment Cynic!

Took the bike for it's MOT this morning before going to work. Before testing it the tester said "we love the classics" which I took as a good sign. A while later he said "it is spot on". So the bike is now insured, MOT'ed and taxed. It is not all good news though. The 12 mile ride each way to the bike shop was also the first shakedown. Issues: On the way home the rear indicators became slightly loose. No biggie and I will sort them. Also on the way home all of the lights run off the battery failed. This was due to the brake light switch wire melting to the exhaust and fusing the fuse. No biggie. The clutch felt wrong somehow. This was due to me fitting the clutch arm the wrong way round so that it didn't tighten on the spline'ed part of the shaft and had clicked round the spline. Sorted this. It rev's fine to 5k and then bogs down. This is in all gears. The plug is a toast brown. I can't remember what size main jet I put in it but the chances are that I will not be able to get a bigger one before Squires. I may raise the jet needle a notch or two to see if this helps. Apart from that, it starts (if I remember to put the kill switch to "run") and stops fine.
  22. And he made it life sized.
  23. Too much info mate. A few dry spells this side of the Peaks but bouncing down now. I am keeping an eye here LINKY It wasn't too bad this morning. Said dry Friday, a chance of rain Saturday and dry Sunday. Changed since then. Found another site with a better forecast so now am going to watch that one instead. LINKY
  24. True. The weather forecast has got worse for the weekend and It there is a highish chance of rain then a full face will have to do.
