Moved to the workshop. Spark, fuel and compression are all you need. The timing has to be right also so check the compression and the timing. What exactly happend if you pour fuel into the plug hole and try and start it? Cylinders can get flushed of oil so leave the plug out for a while and try a little clean engine oil down the bore and turn it over with the plug out. Then take the air filter out and squirt some wd40 into the carb and push the starter.

If you live in the UK and like a smoke or drink, use the link to see what percentage of tax the government of the UK take. LINKY For anyone outside the UK that wants to play along and wants to convert their "habits"; 20 cigarettes are around £6.70 1 pint of beer is around £3.00

Hi Ray. Welcome to the forum. "Bike rebuilding" and "2 stroke" in the same sentence. There is a hard core of people like you on here so pull up a pew and make yourself comfortable.

2 things I can think of are: It is a very cheap chain the adjusters are moving

No. They stretch a fair bit when new but with a good lube they tend to settle down very quickly.

Some people should not be allowed knives.......................................................................................................or pies for that matter!

Write down the cost of pimping your ride. Add 10% for any additional fixings, wires etc. Add all this up and see what you can buy for the same money. Easier to sell a standard bike than a Frankenstein modified one!

I am with airhead on this one. Battery knackered. You may get a bit longer out of it but as soon as the first cold morning hits, the bike won't start. -
You can block him so he cant bid on anything else of yours. Can't remember how to do it.

What happened when you pushed the starter? Dim lights? Clicking, turning slowly over? Nothing? Did you notice the lights getting dimmer before it cut out? Have you tried to start it since and what happens? -
Cheers Kev. That last line did make me laugh mate.
-
Have you been on high altitude training Foamy? It would double the weight of the bike and do nothing for the aesthetics. Not sue I would want all that liquid gas between my legs either.

See if you can get an iridium plug for it. All bikes have a certain starting techniques.

If it is the rec/reg then you will need to see what charge it is pushing through at various revs. A normal sign is the the lights dim at higher revs. If you get a healthy charge all through the rev range then it is unlikely that. When it stopped what happened when you tried to re-start it? I deleted the doubled post. -
Shame you got banned Kev, you seem to hold them in high regard
