Got an email from Confused...... today about the SV insurance renewal. Checked my insurance on it and it doesn't run out until early May!!! Cheeky barstewards, trying to get my cash more than a month early. Fully comp with £400 excess (£200 compulsory and £200 voluntary) was the cheapest quote at £75.45 Hastings, with £300 excess (£100 compulsory and £200 voluntary) was next at £82.11 Went onto the website and changed the voluntary excess to £0. Hastings came back with £100 compulsory excess and no voluntary excess at £82.11 - yep the same price as they quoted with £300 excess.

That is strange Paul. The way I set the page up it should be visible to 95% of browsers including smartphones. The short vid shows the YA6 coming to life on the electric start with no more than a clean of the plug and a bit of air filter wrapped around the open side carb. I hope so. I haven't found anything scary in the rust. Not stripped out yet but it seems like all surface stuff, quite light really seeing the bike is 48 years old. Because it is a pressed frame I am probably going to coat the inside of the frame with waxoil after painting. Light silver frame and candy red paintwork, as per original I think.

Anyway, the SV battery had given up the ghost so ordered a new battery for it. This came today and gave me a chance to connect the bike up to a battery for the first time. I am easy but realistically you are either going o miss one of these or not get any decent classic riding in. Possible option 1 Pitch at Squires (you know that pitching Thursday is not a problem). Ride down to broughton, stay at Daughters If people are going to the RD one, arrange to met there Friday lunch so a little ride North Picking up any stragglers, off to Squires with enough light for me to pitch up Enjoy the rest of the weekend Closer to home when you pack up on the Sunday You can honestly say you went by bike to both over one weekend. Provisionally speaking, I can meet you Leicester way. Ride up to the RD one together, have a brew if there is anything going on, on the Friday then ride up to Squires together then, as you head North on Sunday, I can ride South. Option 2 You Pitch at Squires I meet you there on Friday night We leave there Saturday and ride to the RD one. Saturday evening I shoot home and you go off to see your Daughter Sunday you ride back to Squires on your own to pick up the Landie. Never been to the Derby one but it is a short hop for me (20 minutes tops). Looks like the Fizzie one has a lot of different '70's and '80's mix.

Had mine for nearly 3 years. The only thing that has gone wrong was the speedo drive (common fault). Treated it to the exhaust, consumables and servicing only.
