I don't like the direction this thread is going, yes I'm looking at you OG and Oldtimer Scouts is a good idea. Just not really what i had in mind, I'm not really the leading sort, especially when you add a few teenagers into the mix. The animal shelter is interesting, I have a friend that works at one in Manchester, will ask for some info next time i see her. Ideally i would like something involving motorbikes, which is why the NABB appealed so much.

Ok, so I've been looking into volunteering in my spare time and came across the national Association of Blood Bikes http://www.bloodbikes.org.uk/ . The problem is that there are no groups set up in my area, the nearest are the White Knights in Yorkshire afaik. And after talking to someone at NABB, I understand that there are several people locally that would volunteer, but there is no group formed yet. I'm researching this elsewhere, but thought i would ask this here also. So my questions so far are. Does anyone have any experience of volunteering in a similar role? If so, what was/is your experience like? Does anyone know what is entailed in setting up a group like the White Knights? Any opinions as to why there isn't a group in the Manchester area? And would any of you consider volunteering ? Can anyone suggest any other charity/organization that I could consider volunteering my time to? Any comments/thoughts welcome. Vez.

DTLC's are thin on the ground, which will make sourcing parts for them difficult. Where as DTR parts are still available new from Yamaha. If you go for a DTR get one with a power valve if possible, not only are they easier to ride with one, they consume alot less fuel also.

No throttle stop screw will cause more air to be drawn into the engine and may explain a high idle. http://www.yamahasco...=7&modelID=9135 < Part number 10 on there, maybe ask at a local Yamaha dealer as AJsutton are expensive ime. I have a spare throttle screw, but the rubber may be perished, let me know if you want it and ill dig it out and check.

The power valve motor was only fitted on the later models 98-ish onwards iirc. And don't listen to Cynic he more biased than me, honest! GET A DTR *runs and hides

I have to ask why you would aim for a DT125LC and not the later DT125R's ?? Not that I'm biased or anything

Ok, so I'm seriously hungover here, so didn't read your post properly. The mixture screw is not usually called the idle screw. I think what you are referring too is the throttle stop screw (screw with spring etc). This is located in the hole circled in blue (pic as if viewing from the left side of the bike). Take a picture of your carb (from both sides if possible) and post it up. With any luck i will be more compos mentis when you have .

Take you vin number to a proper spray paint shop and they will be able to mix the exact colour required, if they are any good that is, cost is about £13 per can though. Halfrauds are crap imo. Somewhere like this http://www.motorcolours.com/ ( disclaimer: i haven't used these, the place i go doesn't have a website)

How do you mean NO mixture screw?? Is there a hole where it should be? Is the carb different? It should look like this, only not painted in silver hammerite ( mixture screw is in the hole circled in red)

Hi, welcome. water pump seal probably needs replacing. Common fault on DTR's Oil+water = Grey or creamy coloured oil

I was about 4-5 and a mates dad let me try a little rev and go 50cc, he wouldn't let go of me though, so i only went about 10'. Gave me the bike bug After years of hassling my Mum she finally gave in and bought me a DT50 for my 12th birthday 18 years ago . Lots of reasons keep my biking, the freedom, the rush i still get from a good ride-out, the factor ,the filtering (hate traffic jams), the other bikers you meet and their attitude/camaraderie towards one another. And thats just without thinking about it too much. How about you Pat?

Those are not my clocks. I have one of these as a rodent deterrent, thanks for the offer though. And £80 delivered sounds very iffy to me.

Most parts are usable on DTR's from 1989-2001, although may need the connectors changing to suit. Keep an eye on ebay, clocks and switch gear are quite common. Parts are still available new from a Yamaha dealer (http://www.yamahasco...sp?modelID=9131 ) prepare to be shocked though. Clocks http://www.yamahasco...=9131&pageID=38 Left hand switch gear http://www.yamahasco...=9131&pageID=41 There is also the option of after market digital clocks, can't remember the make atm. Edit, these clocks are not suitable for your bike, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-dt125x-dt125r-clock-set-7587-miles-only-dt125-/120670213456?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1c18815550 they may work with some effort, but they have very different connections. These are the style of clocks you are looking for:
