Great intro Steve and welcome, what I want to know is how did you persuade your wife/mum to allow you to get your bike indoors, I've been trying for 25 years.

My mate brought me into work this morning, the factory closed down at 10:00. On the way back we were crawling down a longish hill towards Chippenham, my mate leaving a good twenty yard gap behind the car in front and bugger me if we didn't get overtaken by a white van man twat.

Also what I have been listening to is the doors (Jim Morrison) with the one and only "light my fire" and "riders on the storm" What's on now is "my brother Jake" Coming up next is Gary Puckett "young girl" Then followed by Glen Miller

It looks like that you are going to north of Cornwall then, then you must visit Tintagel (the home of King Arthur), according my lovely wife they do the best cornish pasties there.

Blimey Jason, If you think your shed is cluttered look at mine. I'm sure there is some booze in there from at least two Christmas's ago.

Try this then K. Bearing in mind these are photos from my divvy, but I would think the setup is standard. Firstly try adjusting it at the lever end of the cable, slack off the large round knurled nut then screw in or out the long round knurled adjuster until the lever tightens up. But you want about 5-10mm freeplay in the lever. (sorry about the focus, the camera seemed to focus on the fairing not the adjuster) If that doesn't work you can adjust it at the clutch casing end, but if you have to do that I would think that the cable is stretched to it's limit so maybe a new cable is required. I have never had to adjust the cable at this end. I hope this helps.

It did forecast it on come dancing last night. It said snow, snow, sleet sleet, snow.

In that case, I would adjust the cable as it looks like you have to pull the lever in to maximum before the clutch plates separate, if they are actually separating? Let us know how you get on, as feedback will help others with similar problems.

If it was happening when you go down the gearbox I would say it was the thrust bearing. but, as it is only happening when you go up the gears I can only think the cable needs adjusting, I might be wrong so it's only a suggestion.

Well done Bippo, Cornwall is a great place to go. Looe and Polperro are fantastic. I've never been there on a bike so I cant contribute as what you need to take, but photos of your travels would be great.

Well done Taff. The discs hopefully should last a lifetime. It's not like having to change a sprocket when replacing the chain. In all honesty, I would just replace the pads. Once again Paul beat me to it.

Well done Jimmy Junior. You can now keep tabs on dad when he goes out on his mysterious ride outs.
  18. Iv'e had this problem twice on my 600 Divvy, both different solutions. When you press starter button ant there is no click of solenoid and oil warning light comes on. On the divvy the wire from starter button goes to a block connector situated under the seat, the end of the wire going into connector was corroded and loose. The second time after pressing button there was a loud click. One of the brushes in the starter motor had stuck open. Freed it up and cleaned it and has been fine since. I hope this helps Mike

Cheers Mr N, you learn something new every day.
  21. I use more fuel in the winter because I let the bike warm up first, and as I'm only commuting six miles I have to let it idle for five minutes at work to get rid of the mayo. In the summer I can more or less just start the bike and go, then switch off the other end.

If you're wondering about what they are on about S, they are talking about a football club (soccer) in England, Aston Villa. From Birmingham, England, not Birmingham Alabama.
