Totally agree Cynic, but if I can add my tuppence worth................... I used my Divvy's trip meter as a fuel gauge but learnt the hard way that urban and rural/motorway riding you need two different mileages to go by, i.e. commuting only six miles to and from work (twelve mile round trip) and round town etc I filled up at eighty miles but for longer high speed trips it was one hundred miles. The only afterthought I would add is that now and again just switch the fuel tap on and off otherwise it will seize up and being plastic it will break into two.
  2. Strange, Sacha. Very strange. Is this the norm in your part of the world?

Do you know what? I've never had to replace my plug leads on any of my bikes (car a lot of times) Have you ever realised if car leads get wet it causes problems but bike leads are open to all types of weather so I must presume they are very robust to say the least, so does surprise me a little bit that you've got brittle ones. But, if I where in you're situation I would definatley go for Airheads suggestion of fitting connectors. Mike
  4. I take my bike to a small private garage in a remote village and even have to help the examiner. I.e. sit on the bike and do this, do that etc and never has he asked me to put the steering lock on. Hope this helps. Mike

The only thing that I can suggest albeit it a shot in the dark is as Slice suggested by bridgeing the starter motor. Try bridgeing the starter motor solenoid. That's what I quite often had to do on my Divvy when it wouldn't start.

Welcome Ronnie, see you in the workshop section.
  8. Last Tuesday I was traveling from Chippenham to Weymouth about 18:00 and came across a very serious RTC at Warminster. The traffic was building up and getting longer and longer as I approached. Thank goodness I was on my bike, I and about four other bikers slowly crept to the front and then got on our way. If I had been in a car I think I would have done a U turn and gone back home.

Slice beat me to it. Mole grips. But before you do make sure you have a replacement sump plug and washer. Mike.

The way I look at it Steve is if I had stayed in for the duration (22 years) I most likely would be on a good pension now. BUT, I wouldn't have met my wife whom I have been with for over forty years and had my two most beautiful kids that I could ever wish for. Mike.

Me too don't know what instagram is. My kids are on it but when I ask them about it all I get is it's like an online photo album.

I reckon this calls for Big Sam to take over the England managers job.
  13. Hi 125. If you have a Haynes manual they usually have a spark plug colour chart to help you diagnose the condition. If you haven't got one I highly recommend investing in one (approx £20) Hope this helps. Mike.

Good luck Stevie boy. Although it was a long time ago for me (43 years) you will never forget your 9 years in the RAF. And it will take a while adjusting to civvy life but all the best and I hope you will find employment easy. My Navy career seen me through right up until retirement. All the best Steve.

Never watched the original series. I think Clarkson's a very obnoxious twat and the new re-vamped series in all honestly is BBC clutching at straws.

Did anybody see Twist the Throttle on the freeview channel? It was on Quest Freeview channel 37 over the weekend and documented how the motorbike manufactures started from scratch. Very, very interesting.
