Getting pissed off with SMIDSY's
In reality, these incidents are probably repeated daily the length and breadth of the land. What pisses me off most is that I can see they've made no attempt to look, and then they just drive off, without even hands up sorry mate gesture.

Getting pissed off with SMIDSY's
Lovely afternoon, bright clear blue sky, very light traffic, riding a bright red cruiser with highly polished and gleaming chrome glinting in the sunlight. 25 to 30 mph, no traffic in front or behind me. Woman driver, single occupant, coming in the opposite direction. Takes up the road position to turn right across me, indicates, looks up the side road she wishes to turn into, and then does so straight in front of me. Volley of verbal abuse and horn as she belateadtly sees me and stops half way through the manouvre, which is worse than not completing it. I don't think high viz/flourescent/flashing light on my head would have made the blindest difference. I clocked the blind twat looking for the turn yards back and anticipated that she would just turn across me, cos she never made any eye contact. Thats the second one this week Earlier, a merc pulled out on me. The male driver looked but didnt see me, his (not unattactive) blonde female companion did and mouthed the words "watch the motorbike" and tried to grab the steering wheel. The driver still never looked Again, I never saw him make eye contact, so was a little bit prepared. But I'm getting pissed off :madflame: :madflame:

YX600 Radian exhaust
Managed to get the old exhaust off today, lucky enough to get it off with all studs intact no problems. Old one is shagged, would never have passed MOT. Just waiting for delivery now of the replacement. Back wheels out, gonna clean the chain up, clean the shite out of the front sprocket cover area, repair the front fender, chuck some ACF50 over it, than just ride it through the winter. Come spring, I'm planning a resto job on it

1987 Yamaha Virago xv1100
I'm fairly certain that's the case. There would have been a low fuel light on the tacho (which is missing-see post 31st july) Its not clear from the parts dwg just what should be on there. It may be that the best course of action is to modify the existing petcock. I'm guessing that its something like a couple of outlets sticking up into the tank, one higher than the other? May be as simple as cutting the higher one back to give greater range before needing to switch to res?

Has this just happened, or has it been a long standing problem?

Dont let your lack of knowledge about investment banking put you off a career in the banking industry, it would appear all you need is a set of dice and a thick skin

XJ600 Project
FJ, FZ, XJ, and the YX Radian share some common parts. There is Haynes manual common for all of those models

1987 Yamaha Virago xv1100

1987 Yamaha Virago xv1100
Youll be lucky to get that from an old 1100 Virago. Expect more like 30 to 35mpg. 87 Octane? I reckon you should be using mid 90s So tank is standard. It still looks like the petcock to me. It may have been swapped out at some point in the past, and the outlet sits higher in the tank, which is why it runs out earlier. Try to find second hand /old one, take your own off and compare, or look for a photo or drawing in the parts manual to give you an idea of what you're looking at. At some point, I think you'll have to bite the bullet and take your petcock off

Elements destroying my my bike
I used ACF50 last winter. Dont get it on the brakes, and remember that it has a tendency to "creep". The small sprayer that came with it was crap, better off with brushes and rag, apply sparingly. Road muck tends to stick to it but it does wash off

Just bought this
Been looking for another commuter bike/winter hack since the dragstar got written off. This is it. Yamaha yx600 radian 1986. Runs nicely, exhaust reqd as collector box not good, a previous owner removed the baffles, gonna try for a plastic welding repair on the front fender as its split, otherwise in good order, taxed and MOTd till next year Bought it as the winter bike, but Ive a hankering for a restoration project on it next spring. Anyone ever owned one?

Im moving!
You moving to the States for good?

Im moving!
I think its because the air is drier, thats why their bikes dont rot as fast, and they build houses from timber for the same reason

Buying new bits for the bike
Just use Googley, type in "footpegs for xvs 125 dragstar" Highway Hawk is a good place to look for ideas/styles, but expensive

XVS125 Dragstar Service Manual - Is there such a thing?
Dead right, there is no Haynes for the XVS125 Use the Search function here, it may throw up that which you seek. Failing that, a PM will.

Stop the chairs!
Jeez, this threads kicked some memories in! Saturday afternoons, fry up dinner, meet the other kids on the estate, bus to the local flea pit to see Flash Gordon/Hercules (Steve Reeves?) chucking papier mache boulders around/Speedy Gonzales/Pancho Villa/Zorro/ice cream/footy on the way home/bottle of pop/home for tea, and all for a tanner
