XV 125 Virago - Vacuum issue
You said earlier that you bought a reconditioned manifold. Have you still got the old one that fits properly? Id be inclined to put that back on and try it, see if it makes a difference

which big bike .?
First big bike - Yamaha V-Max 1200? Be careful then

keep you bike locked up
Yep, I remember that. Bear in mind also that the Human Rights Brigade would fiercely campaign against any changes in the current balance of victim/offender, with inevitable challenges through the European Courts that they would most likely win. Dont forget that our govt is also desparate to keep criminals out of prison because of costs, its cheaper to keep them on the streets. Its my view that we also tend to put the wrong type of offenders in prisons, violent offenders are less likely to be jailed than someone who has committed some kind of swindle, be it of the state, private company, bank etc. (swindling banks!!! thats a laugh now aint it)

XV 125 Virago - Vacuum issue
If I recall correctly Kelum, your problems started when you fitted a non standard carb manifold, and then also fitted an additional gasket/spacer that is non standard. I'm with DT on this, make the hole in the gasket the same size as in the manifold, and make sure that it seals.

A word of advice to XVS 125 owners...
Never had a problem reaching 70 on my 125 draggie. Theyre a great bike, reliable, good build quality, look good, good economy. Only made for 4 years I think, so good ones arent as easy to find these days, but hold their value well. Even rarer are the 250s

Nothing to do with bikes.....

Both MOTs due this week
Both bikes are booked in for this week. I've gone over them this weekend and they should both pass, but aren't winter MOTs a pain in the arse. Dont like taking the bikes in covered in winter crap, so the thaw came just in time to unfreeze the hose pipe for a clean up. Been out on them both today, both running fine, but if i've got fettling to do, I'd rather do it when its warmer. Or am I just nesh

Winter riding gear .
I've got the same as Ken for wet riding, Regatta overtrousers and a Regatta mac for the top half, £30 for both if I recall. I reckon the branded name biker stuff is way overpriced, paying extra for the name

1965 YA-6 125cc project
Could be the effect of Ethanol in the fuel. I only buy fuel for the bikes form Total stations as none of theirs has ethanol in it

Oil will be history,,
Ten years? Nah. The oil industry will continue find/exploit new reserves and the new technologies wont be made available until they (in conjunction with the governments who use it as a revenue raiser) have made us use every last drop. They'll use the tag of "peak oil passed" to keep the price jacked up (more revenue for govts) As you may have noticed, I'm a Cynic on this one

Snow Again !!!!!!!!!
Its a fact. My eldest and her partner were at risk of being flooded out before Christmas. They rang the Council to and for some sandbags to be delivered, to be told that they'll have to come and fetch them, the Council couldn't deliver because of "Health and Safety" When he got there, he asked if he could take enough for all of the properties in their Cul-de-Sac (approx 130), and was told yes. So he started to load em up, but noticed that the Council workers made no effort to assist. "Any chance of a hand chaps please" "Sorry mate, not allowed to, Health and Safety" No wonder we no longer have an empire So who puts the sandbags around public buildings?
