  1. Could have been chain stretched worn sprockets mis aligned sprockets lack of chain lube chain too slack or a combination of these causing the chain to jump teeth without seeing the parts, its difficult to be definite, but I'd say that new sprockets and chain are in order first off, properly tensioned and aligned Parts supplier like Wemoto would supply all of those, but you're free to shop around
  2. Have a good weekend all Take care on the ride home tomorrow, weather looks to be shite
  3. as you look at the connector 3 whites in a line at the bottom black at the top left spare in the middle red at the top right picture IS in the service manual, page 7/23
  4. Sorry mate, I didn't see you The most stupid pair of people in the universe
  5. Good wash off with cold water from hose pipe, not jet washer. Jet washers can push water/crap through seals and ruin paint While still wet, I spray on Pro-Clean (simialr to Muc-Off) using one of those pump action garden sprayers by Hozelock, specially around the swing arm/under the fenders/in the cooling fins/carbs all those difficult to get at areas Let it soak for a couple of minutes Cold water hose off Cloth dry with old towels etc Compressor on and blow off all water form the fins/swing arm etc Wax and shine all over ACF-50 using a smaller Hozelock sprayer and brush around swingarm/under fenders/vulnerable to corrosion areas/carbs Once a month each bike

  7. Well, NSD, all I can say is that they are both front fenders They are indeed Mike, but the question was, are they the same front fender, that fits both the yx600 and the fzr600, as the yx600 fender is rare and stupidly expensive when available, and there are currently two fzr600 fenders available for reasonable money. I know little of the Yamaha parts number coding, hence the question, in the chance that someone on here might be able to say yeah or nay over the weekend, enabling me to have the confidence to purchase or not and know that it fits the bike, before someone else steps in and beats me to it. so if I can ascertain that then there must be more ways of you solving you're original question, You're right again, there are. I have googled "Yamaha parts numbers explained" and have concluded that they are in fact the same part, one should be arriving later this week I must try to be more self reliant Thanks for your help For any else in a similar quandry: 1UJ/21510/00/LG = 1UJ refers to the Model of motorcycle - yx600 Radian 21510 is the actual part number for front fender 00 refers to any subsequent revisions of that part LG refers to the paint colour same for 3FH/21510/00/OX = 3FH refers to fzr600 21510 is the part number for the front fender 00 refers to any subsequent revisions of that part OX refers to the paint colour I think
  8. Hi folks, would any of you part number experts be able to tell if 1UJ-21510-00-LG is the same part as 3FH-21510-00-OX ? Thanks

    Fz600 Gulf

May or may not be related, but I had a similar last year when I did the clutch on the yx600. I hadn't got the setting of the pin #17 set up right with the clutch cable at #26
  13. Nice clean looking bike, enjoy
  14. Whenever I do ant maintenance, I always say to myself that I might be the next chap to take this off/change this etc, so I always try to make sure its gonna do that. Forward planning really Well done with the clutch
  15. Yep, that and anything that can catch or flick the open end as its passing, bent chain guard/head of a screw come loose, that sort of thing
  16. Remember seeing a prog on the box some years ago, about a cat in a box (Shcrodingers Cat???) If I remember it right, when the cat is in the box, it can be in any state ie its both dead and alive. Open the door and one of the 2 conditions is brought about Apparently linked to the firing of a single particle through a particle sized hole in a sheet. Fire one particle in, and 2 come out the other side I'll just check the fridge light. Ohhhh, theres a beer. Hmmm, If I can shove it through that hole in the cupboard, I wonder if
  17. So, if I've got this right then, Homo Erectus first, a southern ape who walked out of Africa and into asia This ape then evolved into neanderthal in europe Another (related)? species of ape walked out of Africa later and developed itno Homo Sapiens Neanderthals became extinct, homo Sapiens filled the gap
  18. I've never had a spring link come off on any chain I've fitted in over 40 years of work, fast/slow/large/small. Just make sure that the closed end of the clip faces the direction of travel, and is securely loctaed in the grooves on the pins, and keep it lubed.
  19. cos the light from the big bang hasn't travelled that far yet. We can see 14 billion light years cos the universe is that old. In another billion we will be able to see 15 billion, unless the sun has gone red giant/white dwarf by then
  20. Many imponderables If man walked out of africa and then spread out into asia/eurpoe, then where did the Neanderthals come from? Did they evolve also from monkeys but a different breed. Were Neanderthals men? Religion? A crutch for easily manipulated people to lean on , and a method of controlling the behaviour of billions of people
  21. Nah, the ER5 ain that low, I struggled to get both feet down comfortably.

    HELP

Right then, back to basics Put it all back together, check that the choke is adjusted correctly "IT WILL START BUT ONLY ON FULL CHOKE" Thats ok. Start it from cold, leave it ticking over, gradually close the choke over 5 minites or so, dont rev it. Aftre 5 minutes, the choke should be closed and the bike now warmed up and ticking over on both cylinders. Tickover should be around 1000 to 1250 rpm, if it isnt then adjust it on the throttle stop screw till it is

    HELP

If the 250 virago is the same set up, it looks like their is a filter assmebly on the bottom of the tank, with seperate feeds for normal running and reserve, the filter screens will be inside the tank and may be gunged up. You should also be able to strip the fuel cock and check thats clean inside. Check that the tank vent is clear. Looks like 2 pipes then connected to the pump, Im guessing one is vac to operate the pump the other feeds to the carb. Check the pipes are connected the right way round and are not pinched, also check the same with the 2 pipes from/to the fuel cock and fuel filter for right way round and cock in right position Check the pipe connection from the pump to where its fixes on the engine unit, make sure no pinching or leaks
