I know there has been some discussion about recording rides. Here is an HD camera for £30 or so that can be fitted anywhere (well almost) and if you have a power take off, the battery charged at the same time.
  3. I wouldn't worry about an ignition lock, the bike is so light a couple a blokes and a van can have it away in a trice. Make sure you get a good quality chain and lock and attach it to your bike and to something that won't move. Keep the chain off the floor if you can - it makes it harder to crop. As for where you keep it - the chain - you can always sling it over your shoulder if you haven't got a rucksack or rack. safe riding

First service is surely free, you only pay for oil and consumables - they only change the oil and check everything is still tight.
  5. Could I refer you to New Members FAQs, Forum Help If this is your first time, come on in and introduce yourself or just say hi.
  6. When I had a 125 ybr custom (2008) you had to turn the wheel to the left - is that what you are doing? May need to check the hole the latch goes into - mine was obstructed with paint when new and wouldn't engage. It is not too much of a deterrent if it doesn't work. The best thing is to make sure you chain it to something that cannot move or be moved, with a good chain. These bikes are so light a couple of scrotes and a van are all it takes to reallocate your bike. Keep safe

You have picked a good bike anyway
  8. He would probably need it more there as the air will be carrying more moisture and hence more prone to carb icing. Temperature isn't the issue.

Fuel tank is 16 litres (my 2007 SVX650A) with 3 as reserve and yes that is to the bottom of the fuel tank filler tube. So if you haven't used the reserve the most you should get in is 13L You do have to be careful filling up and slow down towards the end if you are topping the tank.

The clutch lever should have between 5 and 10mm free play so you will always have to push the clutch lever forward. It will also vary if you try to measure it when the bike is on its side stand and the front wheel turned to the left - needs to be done with the front wheel in line. My XVS650 has only done 4k and the biting point is right at the end of the travel, just before the free play. Is that like yours or do you mean the biting point is tight up to the bar grip? I see you have changed the cable so the above may have no relevance whatsoever. 'Fraid I don't know about springs and things.
  11. try looking at the pdf on here http://www.fiinternational.com/fitting-and-care.asp should give you some idea.

Free Advice - You have had your bike for 7 months and this is the first time you turn up here. An introduction on the Noobs forum may get you some answers.
  14. Correct as above. When I put my luggage mounts on they came with the longer bolts. I have put the original bolts somewhere safe

Never had to show my 'restriction' certificate to an insurance company. You buy a big bike you pay a big premium, particularly if you are young and have only recently passed your test. All they are interested in - when did you pass your test. They expect you to ride legally, they are not paid to police it. Matters not to them because if you have an accident on an unrestricted bike in the two year period they don't pay out.
  20. Can I refer you to the Noobs Forum
