My 'owl Da' worked for Caterpillar and Terex-used to do lots of 'homers'-saw him doing this to save the surface on hydraulic rams, you know when you wrap thread tape onto a fitting and it has to be 'wound' in a certain direction ?-well this applies here, as you turn against the rod/ram/cylinder the chamioux tries to unwind, and as there is only a small triangular space left where the belts go into the vice, it gets tighter, the rod needs to be spotless too -meths

WHOA HORSIE definately not stilsons m8, they will bite through whatever you use to wrap the tube in, if you have a chamioux leather-dampen it, wrap that around the tube near the big nut, wrap a leather trooser belt (2 or 3 is better) around that-now pass the 'tails' of the belt into the vice, try to get the tube as close to the jaws as poss-an old farmers trick that Arrr

how much do you recon my bike is worth?
I know you can take constructive criticism on the chin Paul, overall I like it, although its not my cup of tea, I can see you have a flair for the customising stuff-that bike has had a lot of work done to it and hat off to you m8, I would only change 2 things on it to make it look meaner The biscuit tin as Dirty has highlighted would look better (IMHO) with a stand-off Iron cross (or some other emblem) covering those holes, and, as I've stated before in a previous post-the exhaust, its from 'race stock', I would stick some slash cut straight pipes on there, chrome or black would look great, horizontal to the road would be my personal take on it, highway hawks maybe ? . as for insurance value, you make the price and that determines your premium payments, I would go for £800-£1000 having muttered on a bit, the thing I love about bikes is the individualnessness , bikes can be made so much a personal thing-you dont get that with a car cough, cough, er,, a cage

Foamy's New Toy, XJ650 Turbo :)
Powder coat is a polymer and not suitable for engine temps, might be ok on the bars if you completely strip all the chrome off, or you could get them re-chromed with some of that 2k you have burning a hole in your pocket-just means polishing all the time
