How can you say what the road was like when we can't see it? How can any of us act as Judge and Jury without ALL of the facts?
  2. If the alarm has a valet mode, use that and you can disconnect the battery. If not, your best bet is to find a 12v battery, size or type does not matter as long as it has at least 50% charge. Use some automotive cable, speaker cable will do, and connect it from the bike's battery terminals onto this temporary battery. Then you can disconnect your bike's battery and charge it. This way, there is no break in the power (your alarm may sound though if it is sensitive to a voltage drop but you can disarm it with the fob).

The autographed seat cowl was a £400 optional extra
  4. Damn! Too far away Will he post? lol
  5. He should have seen that early enough to avoid a collision. IMHO, it's a 50/50 fault. The car driver for not looking and drifting without signalling, and the biker's for riding at sphincter clenching speed with traffic about.
  6. If you have the top end apart, it would be well worth checking the valve clearances while they are accessible
  7. If you want to have a load sent to me, I don't mind distributing them about the UK
  8. I wouldn't advise an R1 swingarm conversion - it's a major ball ache and it is also detrimantal to the bike's handling. A 160 tyre is perfect for the way the bike is set up. If you change the swingarm so you can put on a 180, it will completely screw the bike up.
  9. That's barely out of nappies! My YZF600R Thundercat had almost 80k miles on it when it was stolen and it ran as sweet as when it was new. I've also had an FZR400RR with over 120k on the clock.

Hiya bud, I've managed to find one. Let me know where you are based and I'll work out postage
  11. I must admit, I've never seen an air cooled FZ600 in the UK, 400s yes, but never a 600. All of mine are, and have been, water cooled.

I'll have a rummage tomorrow and see if I have one lying around
  13. I used Delkovic on my Cat. They are an OE copy in Stainless Steel and cost around £200 delivered. I had two cans in the eight years I owned the bike, apart from the OE one. The first was a Beowulf Stainless, which got seriously damaged when I had my off, but it was the dog's danglers for sound. After I re-sprayed the bike, I fitted a Scorpion Carbon 'Toblerone' shaped can, also the mutt's nuts in every way. I've used Quill, Akrapovic, Blue Flame and Termigoni on other Yams, but TBH, the Termi's are the only ones of those four I would consider in the future.
  14. Are you sure you are looking at the correct part?

It should be next to the starter relay. The part number is 47X-81960-A2-00 (the same part from 1986 to 1990)
  16. That is the oil pump cover. Original part number: OY010125 Alternative part number: 5EB-15416-00-00 (2002 model part number but the part is the same).
  17. You would be advised to rinse it thoroughly with something non-flammable such as soapy water (I find soapy water helps break down any petrol residue and reduces the risk of combustion). I would also advise having a dry powder extinguisher nearby or a bucket of sand
  18. That is the oil pump cover. Original part number: OY010125 Alternative part number: 5EB-15416-00-00 (2002 model part number but the part is the same).

Try Jawel Paints, based in Birmingham. They do mail order and will mix any colour you want. Reasonable prices and quick turn around too BTW, Google will find you the phone number
  20. being air cooled, the only thing I can think of is that water has somehow gotten into the gearbox or elsewhere in the engine, maybe through a broken seal. Air cooled, no radiator under the headstock:
  21. Not any particular help I know, but if you need any FZ parts, give me a shout BTW, where are you based?
  22. Madison Motorsport replied to Blades_2's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
All UK models arrived here restricted to 12 BHP, same as most of Europe. German and Italian models are the full 32.8 BHP. Restriction and de-restriction are not a problem.
  23. A 98-99 R1 subframe should bolt straight on - They share the same Deltabox main frame.

Are you getting a spark to #3? It may be a dodgy plug or HT lead.
  25. Immobiliser fault most likely. Most common cause is water ingress. Have you been riding in severe rain lately or used a pressure washer on the bike?
