pod filters do tend to mask the vacuum and mess with the carb diaphrams.
on my project I retained the carb to air filter rubber to eliminate this problem
sorry must have missed your thread for some reason.
I just got standard caps, sparkies and aftermarket coils ( the wires are sealed in mine) best to stick with original spec

I'd say don't take it to heart. He had a go at me but it was water off a ducks back (or arse).

not quite sure what you mean by that!!
floats are checked when the fuel is being stopped by the needle valve. so its neither fully resting or fully down. I blow gently down the inlet and close the float. When the air stops thats when you take the measurement
