if you want a decent paint job, you can't get a fast turnaround as they will be busy!! can't help you with the local painters but sunrise graphics will do your decals. drewps
  3. yep its the same with mine, they (yamaha) did sometimes have different jets for each carb, so check you havn't inadvertantly swopped them over if you have those jets. did you take the pet tap completly off as i suspect the diapram is not as efficient in releasing fuel. you can get kits form HVG cycle and mikes xs

At least it will keep the moths away
  8. sounds like you have a fuel supply problem. is the tap really clear of crud? is there a sucking sound when you open the petrol tap? (breather blocked) could try to rig a temp fuel supply and see if it runs ok. (to eliminate the above problems)

stick a multimeter on dc volts across the battery terminals and you should get between 13.5 and 14.5 volts @ 3000rpm. for the charging system to work you NEED a good battery as it excites the field coil to generate the electricity. if after you have a good battery and you can't get the volts, it is usually the voltage regulator as they are electro mechanical in operation. drewps

best getting a manual as it explains how pistons are oval and wear fore and aft etc.
  19. the tube method is the best as it takes into account the vagrates of each carb. why not get a matching bolt and drill/tap for a nipple?

Been busy this week and after buying an NOS engine case from XS360's estate ( god bless him) I have now rebuilt the engine. it just needs timing and the wifes help in shoe horning it into the frame( she does have her uses)

It amazes me when I see the duke videos of them doing 170 near curbs and the bars are tank slapping. I don't think rossi would do it as its a completly different way of riding!!

I did hit a plastic hub cover on a bend over snake pass doing 60mph. It happened so fast it never got the "stomach pit feeling ", just straighted up the bike to the other side of the road and after I ran over it, carried on turning. Thank god no-one was comming the other way!!
