to the YOC Steve. i'm into the '70s classics, but if your happy with the bike, its worth it!! go out enjoy and ride as though all road users are trying to get you and you'll be OK!
  4. I would look at your earthing first, take them off ( battery and the one under the seat) and give a scour with green pad and use petroluem gel/copper slip.

    Frank

A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: 'Who?' Cabbie: "Frank Feldman. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time." Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was something really special." Cabbie: "There's more... He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with . . . He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, some guy then." Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "Well, I never actually met Frank. He died ..... I'm married to his #^%@!* widow."
  7. take out the fuses and clean them and the holders, as this is a weak point! you will need a multimeter to check continuity through out the loom. i'd start with the starter solinoid first and work from there drewps

    XS360 carb parts

yamaha service manual only states 12amp @ 5k revs. you can get halogen lamps from which have a lower wattage. I suppose you could get a AGM battery with a higher ampage to provide the nessary juice drewps

    XS360 carb parts

it is an alternator , but its done without any mechanical connections just magnetic flux the voltage regulation in yours and my xs400 up to '78/'79 was done mechanically and was the weak link (although they can be tweeked to compensate for wear) The combined reg/rec was due to electronics becoming cheaper and smaller and newtronics did an aftermarket combination which works on our bikes (sadly defunct now) tank is a fibreglass honda item i belive, but you can get a similar effect with an xs750 tank. look at Wurths bike as he has one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owwd19VDbpg essentially the 360 is the same chassis as the 250 and 400 up to '79 and rassk make rear sets for these bikes. look at thre xs400 links in this section and you willl find workshop downloads and other bits for you perusal drewps here's a cool racing 400 on youtube

    XS360 carb parts

BRB must have missed ur post as prob pissed by then never heard of a tympanium reg/rec? the charging system is a brushless one and the voltage regulator excites the field coil and regulates the AC output that way, if that's any help to ya! there are plenty of cafe racers done here's my fave

    very nice, good job there!!
  15. Three men married wives from different countries. The first man married a woman from China . He told her that she was to do their dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away. The second man married a woman from Italy . He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table. The third man married a girl from Ireland . He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

    older bikes

My first bike was an italian moped, white wall tyres, pressed steel chassis which was half faired at the back. couldn't remember the name and it cost £5 off a mate. 2nd was a CD175, which i built at 14-15 years old with very little tools and no torque wrench so it spewed oil out cause i was too scared to over tighten it In Devon Z400 i got cheap KE175 ditto then a KH125, which i rebuilt In Manchester CX500, which was my mode of transport for a few years till i was taken off it by a myopic driver! Kids/morgage came next then me xs400

  21. with a socket under the valve to support it, and another socket over the valve spring retainer. give the latter a wack with the hammer to break the seal of the colletts on the valve stem. Your compressor should work then drewps BTW to the YOC
