some more rebuild tips use food bags with the white matt label background and keep things together and in logical order. photgraph everything ( especially inside the headlamp bowl) make note of wring runs and tube locations. have somewhere to keep finished parts ie the loft! don't throw anything away even if knackered, you may need to destroy something to get at a hidden bit! better to do that on a knackered part! make a list of things to do and cross off when finished don't set a budget or time limit

tick over does mean the bike is running at idle! 8000 miles on a set of contacts may need renewing!

there's no balancer pipe with SITO's that I know of for xs400's! they are a bit long as my friend has them on his. they look well made though! can't comment on the price as don't buy exhausts from the states! drewps

I'd invest in a xenon strobe lamp as it times the ignition spot on when on tick over. (try ebay only £20) you need to check the heal of each contact for wear as this will send off your timing adjutment! or just buy a new set of contacts. don't forget that the firing is done 180' as the pistons move up and down alternatly not together a la brit bikes!!

never used a sat nav, always pre check the route before hand and then ask people if i lose me way.(rare) the thing is, the more you do it this way, the more you tend to get a better sense of direction!

carbs are brand new and cost me £20 just had to put a 135 mains in for the K&N's but may up to 138 for the "free flow " exhaust ( no baffles )
