I'm excited for you. I'm still working on the Gilera and loving every minute. if you find a panel beater for the mud guard let me know.

or the float needle is dirty letting too much fuel into the carb. a quick check and clean is all it may need.

Impressions on upgrading from Star 650 to Star 950

good review, but you ain't got one until we see a photo of it -
I got some aap Taiwanese rims from a company in NI £4 delivery look ok too http://motorcyclemegastore.com/motorcycle-wheel-rims
-
looks ok to me too. no where near as bad as the Gilera I started with. the front wheel spokes look new and the rims look good too. rusty wheels can take £400 off you easily
-
try a new spark plug too, as it might be fouling up/insulation breaking down
-
he says it needs a new engine! unless you have access/funds to get another engine I wouldn't bother at that price. If your really stuck on it, take a gamble and let it run. email the seller and get him to lower the price

my throttle usually makes my revs go up and down seriously, its running a bit lean, the modern fuel now has ethanol (alcohol)in it which loves attracting water. tweaking the mix screw out to enrichen the air/fuel mix like dt50 said, on the xs400 its now 3 turns out. You may have to up the slow jet 1 step.
