I think you can get pattern rear guards from PGM yamaha. for chroming, it depends on what standard you want, the quality of the peice and if price is of no importance as its a rare part. I use RSchrome for general chroming work on good peices, as they can't restore anything except polish it out. I also use chrome restoration services in coventry for my down pipes and they were better than new and 1 pipe cost £70. I would say its more down to the operator than the quality of the tool. just don't buy the cheapest of course.

Its cause the clutch runs in the oil, that full synth causes slipperage. semi synth is still mineral based but with additives which stabilize and clean the engine. I use Millars 20w 50 in my xs400 and costs £30 for 5 litres but I think that is money well spent. Just stripped down my engine to change cases and its purfect inside!!
