grsemnky76 get some new oil circulating around the engine before you fire it up (take out spark plugs first) gap contacts and time the igntion, other than that ,I reckon you will still have problems with fuel gumming up the carbs!!
  2. bikebandit speed soprt motogrid mw vintage
  3. not sure what you mean. the speed rating is what you need for safety at speed. 90 is the profile of the tyre.
  4. that'll be great when you go fast and your'e a few inches off the ground, that would be amazing

    Ow.

we had a fuel spill near a roundabout. the police closed that part of the road whilst waiting for the cleaners. You can normally smell the stuff before you see it, then its keep the bike upright till you find dry road!!

  7. Hey, Happy Birthday buddy!!
  8. 10 years standing and you can't find a blockage!!! the whole thing will be gunged up with waxy spent fuel. you need to strip the carbs down completly and send them to merv so he can put them in his ultrasonic bath.
  9. i haven't any spare, but you can get them from ciriusconinc in canada, they also operate on ebay
  10. potluck! it will be a simple open or closed circuit for the bike to work. follow the wires into the headlap and cut or join in there making sure the ends are isolated from other wires drewps
  11. its clutch drag, when you say adjusted is that just at the handle bars or the full adjustment? you could have a sticky cable, so lube it! there may be some rust on the clutch rod preventing full movement. or you might have rusted plates and just need to ride the bike or the plates have warped preventing them opening oe there may be grooves on the clutch basket preventing the plates moving there's a lot to go on to keep you busy for a while
  12. no problem, just had an "accident " with my carb so having to use my own advice and pushed out the broken tip off. now I'm baking soda blasting the bugger and ultrasonic/dishwasher cleaning it at the mo (wife is at work)
  13. tyre wise I've seen a 120 x 80 x 18but it is very close to the chain guard I run 110 x 90 x 18 BT45 on the rear. don;t know about the xs650 as it comes in all sort of guises

  16. I don't own a dohc bike so can only point you in a particular direction. this is in german but you can use google translator http://www.yamaha-xs400.de.vu/
  17. thought I'd tweek my ignition timing with the strobe and the tick over went down. started raising it and it felt a bit stiff, all of a sudden the thread let go and know I've stripped the fine thread on the carb body AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!! luckily I've got a spare body ( unlike mine) but I'll have to restore it if its going on me bike. MORAL: don' piss about with something if it ain't broken, as it soon wil be there got that off my chest
  18. tank shop has a bad rep due to long waits for the tank to be made. there was a dude in aussy, who has old ducati tanks which look great and have the knee indents, can't find the link though
  19. duanage, please do not write in uppercase ITS SHOUTING!! and considered rude! btw you can get sito pipes which look the same as original!!

    XS400 pipes

got a motad system on the project, which sounds meaty and has good midrange to top end performance. My nice one has an original 1:1 which is the best all round for performance, but is heavier
  22. using xs250 wire hubs and respoked with stainless. not done much work lately as no money and other priorities!! need to get tyres and then start finishing those carbs off and maybe do the wiring!!
  23. that's one mint ride you have there! clean machine, well done
