xs400 cafe process
personally i would have ditched the indicators and used smaller ones elswhere or use a handlebar mounted set which show fore and aft. you could have cut away the back bridge/seat support and cut away the plastic inner guard so you have a flatter base to work from, that way you could have put an aftermarket seat and be able to put your battery in there!! the seat you have made looks more comfy than the standard aftermarket ones and you have done a great job there mate. have you thought of using an xs750 tank for the cafe look. there is one on youtube and looks the dogs. well done so far keep it up drewps BTW i think you can file the foam with a rasp file

1979 yb100 race bike
to the forum Devine I suppose standard 2 stroke tuning techniques, lightening the bike of all superfloues fittings and up grading suspension, tyres and brakes! its a matter of how far and how much you do yourself to keep the budget down! Personally I'd go for sticky rubber, progressive front springs with 15 - 20w oil (depending on body weight), rear hagon dampers, homemade rear sets, ace bars and better brake material. you can always go round corners flat out drewps

looking for vintage-like headlights
look like triumph nacelles, TBH most 50's brit bikes had those so i'd check out Equipe in rochdale or dragan motorcycles or Carrot cycles.

The XS500 gets a rebuild
as always there are 2 thoughts as to what to do. TBH powder coating is great and so far mine has lasted really well and shines up nice with a plastic/vynl cleaner. the issue is if you cut it then the water can leach in and corrode under the coating ( i have touched up with blackpaint and you can't see and its kept the water out). Also it goes on thick so be prepared to trim caliper slides etc along with retapping threads. If you use a reputable powder coater they should seal all holes and threads. see www.triple-s.co.uk/ for info. painting is not so forgiving and will show up rust lumps etc and is more expensive. you can touch it up but i think it doesn't take knocks as well as powder coating. if powder coating get all the stuff done in one go as there can be slight differences in black between each supply of powder!! drewps
