I am assuming the base has rotted? you may find a new seat at speedsport (USA) cmsnl (Dutch) Govnors Bridge (UK) other than that try german ebay as their stuff seems to last (i got mine from germany)

to the YOC andre3000 Hayyyy yehhhhh!
  11. go on, that'll be a laff!
  12. i have a little one fits no problem the whole thing looks like a reverse L. btw you can undo the carb connection and turn the union to the horizontal position
  13. sounds like a carb issue. pulling the clutch in then the engine revving could be either a sticking throttle cable or you have a weak mix. does the bike rev in neutral? army; all xs400's have false neutrals some where, mine is between 5th and 6th if you adjust the drive chain, it helps gear changing immensly
  14. not sure why you need to change the spec of the starter sprocket! maybe the chain has worn past its use by date or the guide is worn?
  15. Velcome to de forumz cliton

yep that's no problem for either applicaion and it'll work out cheaoer
  21. you can either get replacement stantions (disco volante)or have them hard chromed and re-ground (philots in UK) lowers just need stripping and rebuilding, wirth do pregressive upgrade springs
  22. drewpy replied to johnsnownw's topic in The Bar

get the part number and try http://216.168.60.165/speedandsportinc/index.tpl
  24. you can bend them a bit at the tips. I always set them to the smallest gap and feel a slight drag. BTW the things are noisy anyway so don't expect quiet, these are an aircooled 30 year old bike pre noise restrictions so don't be too hard on yourself. mine do make a clatter and that was after full rebuild with new parts! it all adds character to the bike the valve gaps are for timing not noise prevention
  25. firstly, your not a moron, its probably stuck in the socket. i reckon a little wd40 up the inner cable to the tach and a bit of time to seep in should do it. next time you put it back, put a little dab of coppaslip on it!
