    the parts do need to be prepped quite well. a bit of linishing does the trick, I know its not possible on bearing surfaces, so i think renewal or chrome is the way to go!

  6. that's what I did when i rebuilt my engine on the xs. put mineral oil in and thrashed it for 20 miles, drained the oil and put in semi synth. had the bike 4 years now and it don't smoke!

    I think its just clutch drag, and your going against the direction of the clutch which exasperates the issue! hey hornix did you like the picture I sent you of your dad in retro?
  10. triple s charge about £100 plus postage for powder coating, so that's sounds great. Trust me get it done by motorcycle powder coaters, not garden gate vendors. I had a test peice done from one of the garden gate coaters and it was shite, more orange peel than oranges!! Your would need to csand blast that frame anyway, so let the pro's do it. Just make sure you degrease everything first or the powder will take on a sheen when its heated up. BTW, start looking for new stancions on ebay etc as they will need doing and to rechrome is another £135!! drewps

  20. I assumed you have checked the bulbs? the neutral and oil connections are both near the output sprocket and as such can be brittle thus break internally if disturbed. I'd earth the leads and see if you get light. then check connection/fuse for power.
