  6. honing keeps the oil in the bores for longer, thus it increases reliability. it also "cuts" the rings into the bore increasing compression as georgen says

    I tried motorbike maintenance on them and got an old crashed suzuki custom thing donated they basically wrecked it, didn 't know how to turn a spanner. Kids today eh!
  10. can i see pocked holes on the bores or is that a dirty lens? I can't see any honing meself, best way is to measure and check gaps

    no access now and against POR it was, tbh its holding, but I'll change it over just checked the parts book and there's no return spring listed bit wierd

    well I started it tonight, I took pictures but your not seeing them yet whilst tightening up the alloy top yolk about 5 mins later i heard a crack, the alloy had cracked. I didn't over tighten so I can only assume it had fatigued. Luckily I have the steel top yolk that came with the forks so I'll use that. looking for the bloody return spring for the rear brake lever now, I had it, I did,! but where the feck is it? should finish the main build tomorrow evening and I'll have to push it back home then as the hut is in use for air rifle practise. (we have a competition this weekend)

  15. its great vapour blasting. Its very time consuming hence the price. At least the cases are done as barrels can be easily sorted via the dishwasher
  16. that wasn't good! make sure all the oil ways are clear then Tommy I would clean the mesh oil strainer too.

    been working all day on the peripheral paintwork today. I used the scout hut which has a really powerful heater set to 20'c = bloody hot anyway all done and I'm going to build the bike in the hut I think, as its not being used till Wednesday.
