for metric the drill size is thread size less pitch. so for an M7 with 1.25 pitch you need a 5.75mm drill bit.

agreed is the only way if you run a classic. someone crashes into you and it brakes a lever, it will be written off as uneconomical to repair. market value is based on glasses guide, if its not in there then its worth £50 (that's a guess but not far off)
