  1. Whilst I had a bit of a breakdown when the throttle cable snapped, I got a lift from the breakdown van and he lived near Jerez for 15 years. The guys said that the kids there get chainsaw motors and fit pipes, handlebars and throttles on them to mimick the GPbikes. I thought he was pulling my plonker but it looks as though it happens
  2. you normally have to measure the width of the bands to the cc of the bore, that way the power band is resonating at the correct frequency of the engine and ensures longevity as well as power! hope that helps

Update; painter phoned today, he's just finishing off the base paint and ordering the vinyl today. I picked up the machining job yesterday from MSC (or western rebores) in manchester. top bloke,ex bike racer and checks clearances for you too. so he puts in a head stud after i snapped mine trying to get it off, swapped over the liners to the ones that match the pistons, honed and skimmed them, then checked all my valves (one was bent) Took the best valves from the spares motor, then recut the valve head and valves. Then he skimmed the head all for £200. love the machine oil smell too here's the skimmed barrel and the head work
  6. flowlers or cmsnl have online fiches
  7. you get two power bands in a packet
  8. check out fowlers online fiche. the clutch schematic in haynes is wrong as it has the parts in the wrong order. do a search on this site as I have covered my FZ clutch fix (same engines)

maybe get on the 2stroke club, they are a great buch and can put feelers out for a suitable donor bike. now there's a big gap left from the departed FJ, you need to fill it quickly or something else comes in its place.
  12. congrats to the family. that "rear view" is a "cracker"
  13. it's usually really good, maybe they lost money that year and no-one wanted to commit to another
  14. can't be a real copper
  15. 'tis a sad day, Lotherton Hall classic bike show cancelled this year http://www.vjmc.com/events.html
  16. Kon, there are a few xs250 owners on here but not heard from them for quite a while. is it the early SOHC or the rare DOHC model? 400's share the same running gear
  17. can't be worse as it bottoms out with just me bouncing on it
  18. ok thanks for the heads up, just wantng the spring ATM as I've spent loads and just wanted to get the spring and then overhaul the shock over winter
  19. to the yoc. pictures or it didn't happen
  20. I don't know, hindsight is a great thing to have and that was a long way to reverse. If you see someone reverse it's like " what's he doing?" then it "hello!!" then "WTF" .
  21. put an inline filter on it too, as the tank may be full of rust dust
