So I picked up a 74 YZ80 and am trying to make sure the numbers agree with years. The listing I see shows the 74 as the 1st year of the YZ80 (462xxxxxx serial number). Does anyone have any other information on this. If this is the 1st year is there anything special about it? Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks guys. I could not find it in the list that was on the Net. Glad you posted it. I have more projects than I can handle so this one is going to be passed on to someone else. I ride Trials so most of my Yamaha's are TY's, I have put it on Ebay but am willing to take it off if someone wants it. By the way PLEASE TELL ME if you think the Ebay price is to high!!!!!!
  3. You may be correct. There is a post on another forum that mentions 583 as the number for a 1976 TT500. Wish I could find it in a book or complete listing somewhere. Alan
  4. Picked up this bike yesterday. I think it's a 1977 XS500 but can't find a way to be sure. Serial number on the frame and the engine start with 583 xxxxxx. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, I had looked on Ebay and there is one of each. I also didn't think there was such a bike as an 88 TY250 - but there is a cable listed for it on ebay right now. Yea, I know people have no idea what they have. If I don't get that one on ebay could you suggest a good place to buy one? I'm in the states so shipping from England might really run the cost up. Looking for the front brake cable for a 74 TY250. There is one listed for a 88 TY250. Can someone tell me if there is any difference between the two? Thanks Alan

Group, Have a 74 TY250 with the stock T... carb. Have gotten the bike to the point where it runs and idles fine but.... It will not start unless I squirt gas into the carb. If you leave it sit for more than about 10 minutes you have to repeat the gas squirting process. Once it has started it runs fine and if I stop it will re-start just fine. Carb has been cleaned and re-assembled. Taken apart several times but never any dirt inside. Float setting was off when I got the bike, I'm guessing at it's setting. Appreciate any thoughts on this.
