Restricter Kit

Get them to agree to remove it for you for free at a future service as well when your restriction is up. (I got that on mine...). Happy riding

Restricter Kit

You might find one on ebay? otherwise they have to be ordered through your dealer... I think you'll end up paying around £250 for one fitted
3. hello. I've never heard of that... you can check the instructions to wire lamps here http://www.1300tourer.com/node/2345 failing that hopefully someone else here (or on the other site) may have an idea. Hope you get sorted
4. my 2 local independant tyre suppliers are Woosters and Leeds Bike Tyres (both have websites). But, neither had them in stock when I tried them, though they/their suppliers might?? Unfortunately Woosters can't fit them as their lift isn't strong enough... On the link above someone said they found a place in Germany £102 inc postage to the UK (doesn't say where though). I've only used Bridgestones and thet seem ok. RE pulley, my bike has started making a knocking noise on deceleration when really hot... yours could be the belt being too tight? I've read elsewhere the manual specs are too tight. Hope you find your tyres.
5. Glad you've found some one to fit them cheapish... What happened to your pulleys? I had my front forks replaced under warranty as they corroded under the lacquer...
6. 10,000 miles - WOW! Mine lasted 6,500... Here's a link to the thread we discussed tyres recently. In short there are two options for the 'correct' size 170/70/16 which are the stock Bridgestones and a Dunlop. Avon said they are going to make a 170 size radial which should be out early next year... The US riders opt for a 180/70/16 tyre from Metzeler, Dunlop and Avon. Unfortunately Metzeler say that due to different regs they cannot recommend the 180 as a 'Stage 1 upgrade' like they do in the US... I decided not to fit a 180 as I was unsure of how it would effect my insurance, but I will definitely be trying out the Avon at my next tyre change. My dealer wanted to charge me £50 for fitting it... managed to haggle them down to £35 which was the same as a local independant tyre shop. Just hope they don't scratch your pulley like this which they did to mine = not happy!
7. Hi Kroony, Full installation instructions can be found here: http://www.1300tourer.com/node/2345 From looking at it (about half way down) it appears there is a nut underneath the actual lamp (covered by the collar) that you can tighten probably by using pilers on the bolt to hold it tight...? I'm sure the pics will explain it better than me? Let us know how you get on. Good luck Graham
8. I did my test on a 125... bought a 1300 and restricted it for 2 years. If you can afford DAS it could be an option you want to consider, especially if you want a 600cc unrestricted? Suzuki offer restriction kits for free on all new bikes and I think they're doing 0% finance. As for lessons, I did 2x 6hr days and the test on the 3rd day. I think it was around £350 all in. Good luck
9. Oh [edit doesn't work] I had to go back about a week later as he had quite a bit on...
10. Hi Kinder, My trunk is able to hold 1 full face helmet only (but not much else). I tend to lock my helmets to the bike rather than use the box... You can fit a Givi box instead which will hold 2 full face helmets (though not much else)...
11. I remember asking one insurance company about going over the mileage and that one said 1,000 miles is ok, but 2,000 or more would be too much. BUT MCE are the only company to ask me the exact milage of my bike at time of insuring... My 1300 policy with Swinton says my bike must be garaged between 10pm and 6am. If it's not garaged between those hours and gets nicked then I have to pay an extra £250 on top of the compulsory excess... they seem more concerned with the bike being nicked when the key is in the ignition.
12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-14474429 You may wish to sign the e-petition calling for rioters to lose benefit payments (if the website works...)
13. The other half nicked my car as she worked nights. I also worked shifts so buses etc were unavailable. Couldn't afford a 2nd car so bought a scooter. Now rarely drive a car - bikes all the way.
14. 1. Peugeot Ludix Blaster 50cc scooter (part ex for 2) 2. Yamaha XVS125 Dragstar (part ex for 4) 3. Yamaha XVS1300 Midnight Star (still own - bought alongside 2) 4. Yamaha FZS600 Fazer (still own - use mainly as commuter) oh, and Suzuki RV125 Van Van (actually bought for the missus but I used it more than her - sold after 8 months)
15. No worries - hope you find the perfect setup for you. The other half's folks live in Suffolk so if I'm ever passing on the 1300 I'll send you an email... If you get chance, post a pic of your bike - always good to see what other folks are doing to their's. Ride safe and keep the shiney side up & rubber side down. Graham
16. I still have to tell some insurance companies of an accident I had in 2007 when a car reversed into my scooter at a red traffic light even though the other person admitted liability and his insurnce paid up in full...
17. Hi Roger, It is Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I think there's slightly more reach in them than the 950 ones. The UK code can be found in the customs section on this site. If you have trouble finding it let me know. An alternative to Risers and longer cables etc could be a different seat? Mustang seats move you approx 1" further forward than the stock seat... Whereabouts in the UK are you? Me and Midnight61 were just saying we don't see many 1300s on the road. Graham
18. Sorry to hear of the incident. Glad you weren't hurt though. Not good he didn't stop - he was probably intoxicated or something... hopefully karma will catch up with them soon. Good luck with the repairs.
19. Hi Graham, I believe you can run the O2 mod, the Cobra FI and the Baron with no problems whatsoever. Midnight61 is better placed to suggest a setup on the Cobra Good luck. Graham
20. Glad you got your money back (eventually). I don't know how Hein Gericke process their on-line orders but perhaps you should write t their head office in Harrogate with some constructive feedback? I went in today to Hein Gericke Leeds about the zip on the jacket. Told them it snapped when zipping up and he said one second and produced a bag of replacement zips and changed it there and then. He explained that the zips are made by Gortex (new 'lock-out' system) and they received a batch that were not so good. He then asked if I received a bottle of silicone oil which I said I thought I did, so he went and got one, put silicone oil on the zip and gave me the bottle. The new zip pull is much thicker than the previous one so am happy with it. Can't say I could have asked for anything better really and got a free bottle of oil to boot. I think I will continue to shop in Hein Gericke but will be reluctant to buy anything through their website following your experience.
21. No worries. I used a couple of bottles of Redex in my tank over the course of the last year (along with a few good rides out as well as the daily commute) which has helped a lot. It used to be a lot more sluggish on start up so assumed it had sat in the shop for a while? Hope it improves once ridden a bit. Graham
22. Just read the MCN article. There's a new Get Geared store opened up next door to Hein Gericke in Leeds and a J&S accessories over the road so hopefully this may lead to better customer service however if not people will have plenty of choice. Personally I've never had an issue with Hein Gericke Leeds but I need to take a jacket back as the zip pull snapped today so will report on the service I get. Also, they do seem to permanantly sell their oil with free filters.
23. Haven't ordered online, but my local Hein Gericke is ok. Just bought a jacket in the sale & the new fancy zip snapped. Will see what they say and let you know... Hope your £££s turns up soon.
24. Hello. Are you saying when the bike sits for a few minutes with the choke on it cuts out? If so maybe its warmed up and doesn't need choke any more? My fazer was tempermental when I first bought it + had to be revved and clutch pulled in to find a sweet spot to keep it running. Once had ridden it a while it improved. Could be crap in the carb which may work its way out once used a while? Does it run ok when warmed up? Graham
