If your battery is the serviceable kind (where you can pop the caps off the top and fill with distilled water) then check that there is water in the battery, no water is a good indicator that the battery has been overcharged, and a faulty regulator is likely to be causing the overcharging. with the bike running put a voltmeter straight onto the battery terminals, it should read 13-14v or there abouts, 20v is waaaay too much, it is likely to be behind one of the side panels or possibly under the seat, im not familiar with your bike so it could be anywhere, like blackhat said its a bolt-on part and easily replaceable

ooh, this sounds interesting , will see what i can plan... Still need to get shot of one of my minis (next weekend hopefully!), then get that XJ Turbo looking remotely like a motorcycle again... if not it looks like i will be making a trip on the fireblade, or the DT50... failing that it will be in the Kia... or the other Mini, assuming i can get that roadworthy, which doesnt look likely...

If the are blowing when you rev up i would be thinking regulator?, check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, also if the regulator is toast the battery is likely to be also so check it hasnt boiled dry

Welcome to the forum bud, be sure to post an intro in the newbie section, its nice to know a bit about you, your bikes e.t.c. as for your problem HIDs would be illegal and an mot failure on your bike, get a Philips extra bright bulb or a xenon

new bolts are not needed, just do not make the bolts too tight when you put new plates on, new springs would be good but you can get away without new ones sometimes

fitting a scottoiler to an XJ6 diversion
IMHO i would use a stable source of negative pressure, i.e. the petcock actuated line (assuming your fuel tap is vac operated), carb takeoffs would work in theory but keep in mind as you open the throttle and thus cause a larger vac, that larger negative pressure will be passed on to the oiler, aslong as the vac pressure doesnt affect the amount of oil dispensed it wont matter but i am not 100% familiar with the scottoiler system

Very nearly bought a Dodge B250 last month, had a 200L torpedo tank inside running pretty much the entire length of the load bed dont think i would be able to fit a torodial tank to the mini... the spare wheel is only a 10' with less profile than a space saver

I chged the clutch plates on my 1989 dt50mx, easy job but it's wise to have a new clutch plate gasket as they tear easily, and don't overtighten the clutch retaining bolts as they are made of cheese

The guys that converted mine were poles, a different garage converted my brothers dayvan and they were all poles aswell, from what i remember, the poles have been running cars on gas since the war, there are pictures on the internet somewhere of cars with roof-mounted gas tanks, may even get my mini converted if i ever get around to finishing it, only downside is the boot will become virtually useless as the gas tank would pretty much fill it up

The DT has its own oil pump so no need for pre-mix, i cannot praise LPG enough tbh, it cost me £840 to have my sportage converted and i have probably done 5,000 miles since, on a recent trip to grimsby i spent atleast £70-£80 on gas wheras petrol would have been £160ish, you still pay a little bit for petrol as it starts and runs on petrol until the engine is hot enough to vaporize the gas, but a full petrol tank (£70) has so far lasted 3 months and its just about to drop below 1/4 full. i have no plans of getting rid of that car as it is like driving a 70mph armchair, should easily make my money back in a year

another idea...
well the gas injection on my car is "sequential", it basically takes a feed from each of the four petrol injectors and sends that signal to four gas injectors instead, which then feed a small amount of gas straight into the intake manifold about a half inch before it goes into the head. my brothers car ('89 Dodge Ram B350 w/ 5.2 v8) is single point, wherein the gas is fed directly into the intake and is taken sort of as an when it is needed by the engine, exactly how it can tell when to increase the gas flow (i.e. under acceleration) is a mystery to me as for finding a vaporizer, i may just create a pre-heat coil that fits around the cylinder head so that once the engine is up to temperature it is pre-heating the gas and eliminating the need for a vaporizer

wasnt aware the classic minis had fuel filters :S, or fuel injectors... its a HIF144 Carb on a '92 Mayfair of that helps?

Hey peeps I need to pick some brains... Basically my mini is feeling poorly, with the choke fully out and no throttle applied it revs its little 1275 head off, once warm it will run without choke but hesitates and splutters under load, this leads me to believe it's a fueling issue but where do I start? Also you can see the heat rising from the exhaust even at idle slim pretty sure it's lean... Any help appreciated, :/ Steve

+1 for the old bit of carpet, also gives you something nice and softish to lay on for those fiddly jobs, easier to cut than plywood aswell tbh, as for the wood who cares if its a perfect rectangle? you're parking a bike on it, not serving the pope his breakfast from it
