Hey peeps Been drawing up some sketches for project FUCR, the tank that is on it now is fuck ugly and will be going, but inkeeping with the cafe racer them i want to find a smaller (but still large enough for good range) fuel tank, and due to the XZs' design of having the airbox and carbs underneath the tank it would need to have a fairly wide tunnel underneath, since my options for used tanks are limited im wanting to fabricate one. however im not sure wether it would be more beneficial to use aluminium or fibreglass, will most likely be using large blocks of florist foam as templates so actually forming either shouldnt be a problem, only problems i can foresee are sealing them and finding a durable/reliable way of mounting the fibreglass tank :/

huh? im an inspiration? Turbo will need a pressurised oil supply (find a gallery to tap in the block?) and a bit of plumbing, not sure how the carbs will respond to having a positive pressure in the airbox, could fuck up the fueling when running off-boost or cause it to run lean on-boost, hence why i am looking at the supercharging root or possibly changing to fuel injection

Do those electric ones even work or are they just a crappy gimmick like the 'fuel saver' magnets that clip onto your fuel pipes?

Only if it is registered after September 2001, seeing as my XZ is 1982 it is acceptable but not a legal requirement first on the list of things to go will be those gay-ass-looking indicators, the rear indicators will be built into the rear cowling, not sure wether to build the front ones into the nacelle as i wouldnt want them to be obscured by the headlight beam

you know me well enough by now bud, i like to be "unconventional", sure it needs a little TLC but its a good runner and once ive got rid of that f*cking ma-hoosive tank and started getting same fibreglass together its going to look real sweet Will be using a 7" round headlamp with fibreglass nacelle and HID lamp, chrome front mudguard with one of the old style numberplates around the radius, adding some ace bars or clipons, slash cut stainless pipes, new solo seat, digital gauges, toying with the idea of making a fibreglass tank as using a conventional one would be tricky owing to the position of the carbs oh, and did i mention possibly a supercharger?

cheers noise, i havent even started designing the unit but already its starting to be a pain in the ass, wanted to integrate an electromagnetic clutch so that it can be disengaged at low RPMs or for general cruising or set to engage above a certain RPM with a manual over-ride to allow permanent engagement for showing off

Hiya peeps im toying with the idea of making Project FUCR supercharged, preferably using a twin-screw type although im also toying with the idea of building one or possibly using a centrifugal type, does anyone have any experiance in this area of modification?, would be nice to make my own patterns to have a casing cast from ally and build my own but owing to the speeds of all the whirlybits i feel that balancing it all may be an issue, i have access to a lathe, vertical/horizontal mill and various other tools and equipment with a basic knowledge of how it all works, im not looking to run stupidly high pressures, also how would "conventional" carbs function using a forced induction system?, i know that my XJ Turbo uses pressurised carbs, changing to fuel injection is going to get very complicated very fast but may be the solution to fueling problems Would a centrifugal type be more beneficial? perhaps easier to manufacture from readily available parts (turbocharger compressor?)

If it ends up on eBay again i will probably end up buying it, what with my track record of alcohol and eBay

Well tbh the last two were headcases to begin with, and then there was a third who told me to stop spending all my time tinkering with my silly bikes... No surprise she didn't last long then...

yeah fair point, they usually last 3 months max and go a bit insane

its bound to be something simple bud, be carefull not to tear the gasket when you take your clutch cover off as this will add extra cost, and lean the bike onto its opposite side as much as possible to minimise the oil loss when you take the cover off. like i said before, if you need more help why not hold an event over a weekend, im sure there are plenty of YOC members willing to ride up and help, probably many more if there are bacon baps involved,
