  1. Well peeps, after much head scratching amd a lot of persuasion from ttasky, I've taken the plunge and bought... An FJ1200! With ABS, a scottoiler and R1 front calipers , jumped on a train to Plymouth and rode it 200 miles back and I have to say this thing ticks all the boxes, it's fast, it's comfortable, the tank is a little small and it's fecking heavy to get on and off the centrestand, but I certainly do like it . Already writing up a shopping list for a bellypan, centre stand, heated grips, 12v socket aswell as various other trinkets. Considering I haven't been on a bike since squires last year, I'm very happy ^.^ Let them good times roll!!
  2. Welcome to the club! I had a similar bike last year, iirc I dragged it out of somebody's hedge row, got a key cut for it, drained the fuel, took the carb off and cleaned it out, put some fresh fuel in and away it went. Most of the parts will be one-for-one swaps, the chain and sprockets kits are probably different ratios (I.e. Different sized sprockets) or pattern/named brands
  3. Oil level, alternatively could be damaged cases or shift lever as was the case with grouchs cursed XT
  4. Been to speak with the nice stewards in the bike section, hopefully gonna be exhibiting the DT50 here next year, although they seemed more interested in the XJ turbo so may have to slap that back together pretty sharpish
  5. Ah well, was an interesting find anyway, cab find pretty much anything on this market from a french letter to a flying saucer
  6. So here's the story: It's a mobylette motobecane (stamped with number 328683, dated 26-10-60, same birthday as me! Only a few decades before) and It originally came from France along with another mobylette, the guy restored the other one and sold it on and this one sat in his shed until he died, then it was bought as part of a clearance and found its way onto the trade stall down here. it has apparently not been registered in the UK. My DT50 had no registration number when I applied for a V5 but my guess is they were able to get it from the VIN number as it had been previously registered. From what I can see it is missing it's chain and rear light, all the levers and major parts are still there but the guy hasn't tried to run it. He also had a few other bikes, one was a mercury with no top end, the others were ordinary bicycles.
  7. I can always go and ask the guy, that's if it's even still there, It wasn't really advertised very well, just leant against the transit with £160 written on the handlebars I'm watching the pitch for a few hours whilst the old man goes to have his hand stapled back together after a rather disastrous angle grinder accident. After that I'll go have a mosey
  8. If the jeep is already running then the batteries will be at closer to 14v (charging from alternator), and by linking the batteries in parallel the bike battery will also start charging from the jeep alternator, Starting the jeep with both batteries connected will draw from the tiny bike battery and try and start the jeep, not ideal.
  9. Do you actually want it?...
  10. I've got room on the trailer to bring it back, but after splashing out on the FJ that was the end of that... Wonder if he'd take £50 for it... There's 3 or 4 puch maxis, an RXS 100 and various other tat
  11. It's got fucking pedals on it LOL!
  12. I'm currently at the great Dorset steam fair for a week, and whilst wandering through the mahoosive market I spotted this, only £160!, needs a bit of TLC though. I'm sure one of our members used to have one of these Behold, a mobylette!
  13. Hmm the mitos have already been done though.
  14. Bring me back some kippers
  15. Genuinely, if you want another project I know where there's a very worthy FJ1100 going buck cheap...
  16. Fuck it, give me the link to their site, I'm good at buying things I don't want when I'm pissed
  17. Tbh, it was another pissed on ebay job, was expecting it to go for over 1000 but when I woke up in the morning I'd won it. Not that I'm complaining or anything!
  18. Well I'm hopefully picking up some engine bars off slice on the way back from collecting that FJ1100, so should be all systems go
  19. Yeah it's good to be getting my leg over again
