  1. erm, i must admit that aint exactly my cup of tea, would have atleast prefered it to have "Yamaha" written on the back of the seat but atleast you're introducing another young'un to our noble sport did you not consider a DT50?, they are hot shit and fairly easy to come by, cheap aswell (both to buy and to run). what colour you respraying? any idea in terms of custom graphics? ah yes i see it now... its just one big blank canvas really... im doing my Jawa seat hopefully this weekend but would be interested to see how yours turns out
  2. i for one think the peugeot X07 series looks absolutely shite, and the Micra, and most of the newer cars that are coming out, too curvey and futuristic, much prefer the styling of the older cars (Mustang, Camaro, Capri...) even on a 1L Suzuki Swift i was quoted about £2,000 on insurance. wtf?
  3. a new Jawa seat would have to be ordered from germany, not too keen on that idea as i am likely to get buggered for shipping, import tax, duties e.t.c got a heavy duty staple gun so the tooling isnt a problem, only real problem i have is that the Jawa seat isn't completely flat, its got sorta a raised pillion section on the seat You can just about see it in the above photo
  4. nothing much appeals to me in scotland, not sure theres much up there but im keeping my options open. now that im out of a job i need to keep it cheap as possible, so i doubt i will be going overseas just yet. the DT will be wanked out by the time i get to scotland so i think for now i will stick to the south and travel along the coastline for two weeks.
  5. i only tend to eat currys if im being antisocial on camping trips... is nice to have an entire four-man tent to yourself sometimes... no doubt when im touring later this year i will be living off pot noodles and currys, that little tent will be a fire hazard in the morning
  6. Hi everyone. whats the best way to re-cover a seat?, the one on my Jawa needs doing as it is ripped and looking a bit sh*gged out. rather than sending it off and getting it done id prefer to do it myself, anyone know any good walkthroughs/tips for recovering seats?
  7. Hi everyone. quite a while to wait until im 17 but im starting to consider my options in regards to personal transport. The DT will be going soon after my b'day and i've been quoted £250 to insure me on my Jawa 350 (TP F&T) which would be ideal as it shouldn't take more than £100 to get the jawa tarted up and running. however, im starting to consider getting a small car as i dont quite fancy freezing my tits off by riding through another winter, Ford Capri 1600 Laser would be nice but thats £2,500 to insure and no doubt will need the floorpans welding back in at some point or another. so i looked at the insurance for a Peugeot 106, bit more reasonable as its 1.1L, fairly easy to find parts for and you can pick them up for under a grand. insurance came back as £1,700 (TP F&T) did any of you actually bother getting cars when you were 17? and is it even possible to get insured at 17 on a small car for under £1,000? this world of motoring is so confusing... not to mention f*cking expensive... - Steve
  8. wow, she sure must like you... she got a sister by any chance? would be nice to fly around a race track on my DT, but no doubt after half a lap it would spill its guts all over the tarmac and leave me standing at the side of the road again...
  9. Northern Ireland is a bit too far on a 50 methink, doesnt really appeal to me imparticular but i'll do a bit of research and see if it would be possible...
  10. see previous post, can't do it legally because im on a provisional most likely i will just follow the coastline of GB for a couple of weeks and do my ireland tour on the Jawa next year
  11. see above post ^^^, used bitzforbikes on a few occasions and have been impressed with the results. alternatively, your local dealer should have some already in stock or be able to order one in for you. make sure you get a good quality one, i use DK chains on my DT
  12. any idea what is missing?, have you got it running? any specific ideas in terms of pimpification?.
  13. Hmm, whats wrong with riding the DT? they cheap to run and pretty reliable i should know, mine has taken me all through winter and Xmas without too much trouble...
  14. just been to George Whites in Swindon with a mate and tried out a few bikes, have you considered something like the Suzuki DR400?, alternatively maybe a Bandit or something with a more upright riding position (trials bikes?) or perhaps an Intruder?, plenty of legroom of some of those larger ones and they look pretty beasty
  15. i doubt you will NEED to put a racing clutch on it, but adding lighter rollers and stiffer clutch springs would be ideal because it would engage at Higher RPM
  16. Stainless steel allen screws FTW, replaced the majority of the engine case screws on my DT with SS ones
  17. i put 10w40 semi synth oil in my DT50, i would imagine your DT125 would be the same due to its capacity and vintage. should say in your haynes manual, if you dont have one i suggest you get one as they are a great help!
  18. had to remove pleenty of buggered screws on my DT... sometimes they can be removed with mole grips, but if you have completely removed the heads you may have to drill down into the centre of the holes and get a screw removal tool (looks like a threading tap but in reverse and with coarse threads) failing that, if you can get at it from behind (like on a DT50 Sprocket, for example) yo can drill it from the other side and spin it out

    Helmets?

Blimey, you are good at this arent you? ... they do it in Blue?
  20. thats pretty much what im getting at. hence the wing mirror removal, Motorcycle Justice
  21. had a few of them pricks near take me off on a few occasions aswell, quite often they are changing gear and have the other hand on the steering wheel with the phone held between their ear and shoulder, which obviously means they can't see their mirror, cant see me and decide it will be a clever idea to cut me up at the next roundabout. if only i had a bigger bike, one swift removal of the wingmirror would be in order, not asif they use them anyway...

    Helmets?

This is the helmet that ive got: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WULFSPORT-PRIMA-MX-E...A1%7C240%3A1308 it does the job very well, looks quite nice but is pretty heavy and overly big (manufacturers sometimes use the same shell for each helmet but add more/less padding to make the sizes) would rather stick to a moto-X style helmet as it suits the bike a bit better and i prefer having the peak, i dont really want to spend more than £100.
  24. ebay most likely your best bet mate, either that or your local breakers yard.
