hi everyone seems my little DT has aquired a mouse... if im coasting to a stop the clutch seems to squeak... what could be the cause of this? :S have only just noticed it on the way home tonight and the clutch w/ springs were replaced around March/early April time... input appreciated Steve

Considered it?, on the DT?... no... ... on the Jawa perhaps... maybe next year when i goes over to the vaterland to see my mate

tested the diodes in the rectifier and they are fine, but unable to test the reg as it is a pcb based unit and not a zener diode as first thought. So its got to be either that or the alternator, and i cant get it out the shed until ive rebuilt the forks and got the front wheel back on
  7. i dont know what you're all complaining about, my mum still pins my mittens to my jacket

ah yes, i've read about those, quite fascinating creatures...
  9. or atleast dont rip the old one!, i ended up cutting up a cardboard box and making a gasket out of that... it worked for a while

wouldnt have thought so if you are just using it the one time. in my DT i do get a lot of oil and carbon build up in the exhaust but i am running a very rich mixture to keep the temperature down.

this ones got about 13,000 on the clock... or 113,000... not 100% sure which currently im having charging problems so i doubt it will ever be roadworthy

I dont understand... why were those two men hugging?... Where's Goff?, she will explain it

doubt it would make much difference, ive been using comma branded two stroke since ive had my DT and i really do thrash the hell out of that, if you were using it just the one time then i cant see any harm in it
  14. springs usually, if the plates look okay then you dont nescessarily need to replace them. as a short-term fix you can put washers on top of the springs to hold them down tighter, but its best to just replace the springs
  15. i run a 1:40 mix on my Jawa, some people run 1:50 in garden equipment which seems to work rather well. start off with an oil-rich mixture and see how that goes, i would think 1:40 would be sufficient

Hahaha, good one drewps though TBH i think you've been skoing something a bit too strong... :\

sorry folks, i was thinking of my DT50 which is CDI ignition and not points

    1) TZRs are alright, though the Aprillia RS50s tend to be a bit quicker stock on top end. 2) its autolube, you fill up a seperate tank with two stroke oil and it feeds the oil in automatically 3) My DT has done near 28,000 miles and still on its original seals, bearings e.t.c (although the gear change seal is starting to weep), i have only changed to a big bore, RS50s tend to be around 20,000 so i would imagine the TZR would be similar depending how you ride it, if you thrash the bollocks off it then it may need new seals and bearings sooner than it would if you cruised

depends where abouts you are from mate? ebay is the best bet and available in most countrys, or maybe wemoto.co.uk, or bitzforbikez

as far as im aware the only way to tell is to swap it for a known working unit and then check for a spark :\

this indicates continuous rich running make sure all the jets and passages in the carb are clean, maybe go down a jet size says in my haynes manual that the DT50 MX 1981 onwards had a #88 main jet as stock, if you are running any modifications or have removed any it may be nescessary to change the jet accordingly

cheers for that BH, will give mine a check over just to make sure im still on the lookout for a topbox to put a car battery in... i feel that will be so much simpler

i know, as i understand it the zener is a regulator, turning the excess voltage into heat so that the battery is not overcharged. what the wiring diagram is showing me and what i see on the bike are whats confusing me. such as on the diagram you can see "Regulator", wheras on my bike im pretty sure that is the Rectifier, because the zener is my regulator. fekkin czechs ¬¬
  24. wild foamy replied to wild foamy's post in a topic in General
nope, feck knows what is going on with that wiring diagram. basically where those 6 diodes are i have just one big zener diode sat in the middle of a heatsink found some diodes and regulators on a website appropriately named FEKED EDIT: BWJ, maybe this will answer your question; Back in the 60s and 70s a lot of the little bikes had these single wave rectifiers. Now most bikes have full wave rectifiers that have four diodes

spoke to an auto electrician today who suggested replacing the zener diode as it has most likely been damaged (plastic casing around it has melted and the solder on one of the tags had burnt off) anyone know what replacement zener diode i need?, if this dont fix the feckin thing it will be down the scrapyard,
