ive got two sets of XJ600 (pre div) clocks, one is minus a speedo, the other has a fooked rev counter, fuel gauges are still good though. not a lot else to swap tbh, i dont earn enough to buy nice things...

you say metals are a crystaline structure, unfortunately not always the case, some metals can be "grown" from a single crystal for extra strength, one example i can think of are the compressor/turbine blades for the TurboMeca engines on the AugustaWestland Merlin Mk3/3A ... *mupp mupp... puff...*

Heya peeps The winter has come, i am now driving a car, the XJ and Jawa sit in the car park of RAF benson collecting snow and various furry critters... and i have this strange sensation to get myself another toy, the Jawa now runs on both cylinders and with the exception of the broken headlight (which im trying to source a replacement for) will be on fleabay soon to make space for another toy... and on that topic, i have been browsing ebay the past few days... yes thats right, foamy has gained computer literacy... but anyway, i digress. i was looking through ebay, and i saw what can only be described as a wet dream, it made me weak at the knees and i started dribbling like a hungry baby in a topless bar. i'll give y'as all a clue... its a 1200, has two wheels, made by Yamaha and continues the trend of being older than myself. give up?... fine, its an FJ1200, and i think it is absolutely gorgeous, it looks a bit like my XJ, its a year older than me, and i personally think its a future classic. what are your thoughts? is it a wise investment such as the XJ?, or will it be a bottomless pit of effort and money like the Jawa? thoughts appreciated, as you can tell im slightly pished -Steve x P.S. may be worth contacting those publishers you mentioned and asking them to search their archives, worked for me when i was trying to find aircraft schematics from a magazine 8 years ago

wow, you two revived this old thread?. oil leak has been fixed, turned out it was overfilled (whoopsie...) so after fixing that i now have a leaky front rim (stop sniggering at the back...)

Got a jawa sat here doing nothing... would make a great winter hack for somebody failing that buy an XJ, they arent slow by any means (120mph with my scrawny 9st ass on it and my slightly larger brother perched on the back), i did 90 miles on £10 of fuel (at 90-100 most of the time) and parts are dirt cheap and easy to find, plus they look kinda like the kawasaki GPZ900 that tom cruise had in top gun

work continued today, flushed the carb out with fresh fuel, cleaned the spark plugs, put in some fresh mix of 50:1 petroil, and sure enough with a bit of coaxing it is now running on both pots, spent most of this afternoon giving 'er a good thrashing around the airfield perimiter (remember that scene from top gun where an F-14 flies past tom cruise when hes on the GPZ900?... yeh, was like that but slightly less dignified) = A happy foamy

awesome, will keep a lookout for a second hand headlight. got some funny looks from the gate guards as we unloaded it from the trailer and in a cloud of blue smoke i half rode/half pushed it up the incline to get to the car park, was only running on one cylinder with the occasional pop from the second, but all is well and the jawa is now sat in the car park next to my XJ

Hey peeps. for soem reason i had a massive urge to work on the Jawa today, so out came the shovel, can of easy-start and a foot pump and within no time it was exhumed from the weeds and shrubs at the end of the garden. now, one thing it needs is a headlight as i dropped a big adjustable spanner on the original one and smashed it... i need a headlight that measures no more than 7" wide and 5" high, which other bikes use a square headlight with those dimensions? preferably not more than £20 as im a skinflint compared to the XJ, the Jawa now feels small, and compared with the old DT the XJ is a tank...
