cheers nayruf, im pretty sure they are cup seals in the kit though . there are rebuild kits for the XJ900 master cylinders... tempted to try one of those, or change the whole setup to a XJ900 front master cylinder failing that, on the wemoto website they list the rebuild kit for the XJ600 as being the same for the FZR600, XJ900 and FJR1200

Welcome to the forum bud, if you wouldnt mind going to the newbie section and just letting the locals know your around it would be greatly appreciated, they tend to get a bit crabby if you just turn up asking for advice, its always nice to know a bit about the person your talking to - Foameh

nope ive bled all the air out of the system, but when i apply pressure through the master cylinder and open the bleed nipple there is hardly any pressure coming out, ive checked for leaks and cant see any... so now im kinda lost on it

Well peeps im finally back in the UK, bought my bike back from benson and thought it would be a great idea to slap on those stainless brake lines i bought whilst i was away for a bit of extra bling, got to the last line and found it didnt fit as the banjos were pointing in the wrong direction, so i sent the faulty brake line back and used my original one in place for now, only when i came to bleed to system ive now found that my master cylinder seals have collapsed resulting in no pressure in the system... only when ive come inside to look for more seals, the only kit i can find is from wemoto for £40!, thats a bit feckin steep for a few o-rings and a spring?. does anybody know where i may be able to find a set or possibly improvise with seals from another cylinder in the yamaha range? (XT600 maybe?) cheers all, need a cigarette now, i was so looking forward to having a blast around on it for a week, but no... - Foameh x

i had to replace both the front indicators as i dropped it getting it off the stand in the above pics and also again on the opposite side when unloading it from a trailer a few weeks ago, the originals are exactly the same as the diversion ones and i think i got a pair for £15 postead or around that mark, also fitted a new seat cover yesterday the restrictor is just a few washers, never bothered with it myself but each to their own.

got a few pics, mines got nearly 40k on it now and it had 32k on it in august '10 lol. since these photos were taken ive fitted engine bars and the bellypan fell off as it was already damaged around the fassteners when i bought it apart from that the only mods ive got are heated grips and a motad exhaust

Hey Barcus, good to see another XJ600 pre div owner on here! they can be restricted and im pretty sure most parts are still available through your yamaha dealer (they may even be willing to fit it for you) failing that the kits sometimes appear on ebay but will need the certificate (again, a dealer or M/C garage may be able to help you out). ive never bothered restricting mine and never had a problem, only some insurance companies request to see the restriction certificate. EDIT: just out of interest what mileage has yours got?

keep practicing mate, keep the mental mind-set that your going to attack this next time with all your heart and mind, imagine the feeling of riding away from the test centre, hopping on a big bike and having that massive smug grin that we all had at some point

  17. i payed £232.50 for mine in a shit-state, either i was mugged or yours just isnt attracting enough attention The 600s arent too bad, i bought mine for £450 and there are worse examples going for £500+ on fleabay, why not use it as a daily rider?, you should know as well as i that parts are cheap and they are as reliable as any other
  18. Hi and welcome to the forum, there only two things you really need to know about your bike 1: dont f*ck with it, if you leave it alone theres a very slim chance it will break on its own 2: when you are 17 and you need lots of money to insure your 4-wheeled motor, dont sell the bike!, or if you really need to sell it to me
  19. ah yes there will be bubblewrap and cardboard everywhere, like a masacre at a shipping depot
  20. well peeps its been a while, less than two weeks now and i will be tearing into that turbo getting it ready for powdercoating/painting/rechroming, havent yet managed to find a decent new-old-stock 100/90-19 front tyre (got myself an avon roadrider for £15 for the XJ600 though, sweet!) all the bits are waiting at home, everything from the brake pads, caliper seal kits, the new seat i got from america, even a load of PJ1 cans!, its going to be like christmas day when i get back!

i come here to escape reality... when im on here i ride a GPZ900R, have black hair which is usually waxed into some sort of "slightly messy yet respectable" style, i also have a set of aviators that i wear whilst racing down runways with no helmet on... i can dream... can't i?

what model and year? i would be tempted to suggest slector forks or drum, but ive never really dabbled much with gearboxes so i am unsure exactly what it could be, im sure theres other members who are more familiar with your bike though :0 - Foamy
  23. Hmm, im a bit aprehensive about leaving the cap loose at 80-100mph, if it happened to come off theres no telling what damage it could do to other road users/pedestrians/pidgeons... another thing ive noticed is that it may be heat related, when it dies and i pull over the heat radiating from the engine isappears to be more than normal, will get an accurate reading for sure when im back

  25. BWJ - it aint a divvy ya loon! its a pre-div, ya know, the good ones Cynic - where is the tank vent located and how can i get to it? on my DT there was a plastic tube coming from the cap but on this one theres just a fuel cap, is theres some sort of screen filter on the petcock or anything like that? Jebb - sorry i think my wording came out wrong, what i meant was that the problem occured a few months before this date (around end of april/beginning of may), wheras the carbs were balanced a few months prior to when the problem started (feb/march time)
