  1. Sorry for the lack of appearance peeps, I've been off on me travels Thanks for the kind words! I did try and drop the YOC in there but it must have been left out of the final edit
  2. Most of my work has been on the cars. Mini truck needs a new front lower suspension arm, mitsubishi sent me the wrong side, phoned them and they've sent me the correct side and told me not to worry about sending the wrong one back (bonus!) FTO is having a new sill fitted to replace it's current dented one (good excuse to practice my tig welding), aswell as a new spoiler and paint repair on the bumper. FJ1200 is somewhere over the back of the airfield at work, haven't seen it for a few weeks. Still haven't touched the DT125Lc engine, despite having new bearings and seals ready to go. Have too many toys and not enough time -.-
  3. The pipe from the turbo to RH pipe is rare as hens teeth as they all rot away. The turbocharger itself is a garett TC03-06A, you can buy rebuild kits on eBay or alternatively uprate it to a TC04 with a bit of modification

  5. Holy fucking shit balls... I thought I was trippy...
  6. What?, haven't seen her around in a while that's all...
  7. Ooh, go on Bip... Slip into something more comfortable... This reminds me, where is Sacha?...
  8. You should see the back of my truck, got half an FJ1200 in there, several FTO bits and a nitro RC car... Aswell as a halfords roller tool box with most tooling to deal with a major breakdown (physical, not emotional)
  9. Yeah man, would be nice if it makes it into the mag, first time it's been out of the shed for almost a year.
  10. No, that's the place where magic happens..
  11. Dragged it out into the sunshine today for some happy snaps, let's see if it makes it into Practical Sportsbike magazine!
  12. Cut off a small length of rag and packed it into the void between the rocker cover and the head, also it's handy to use an air duster (the aerosol type they sell for computer keyboards) to remove most of the smaller stuff, then hoover out the remainder before removing the rag after you've finished tapping etc
  13. Well peeps, I finally got my arse in gear and decided to give the FJ1200 a bit of much needed TLC. It had recently developed a fairly substantial oil leak, and when stopped in traffic it would smoke badly from around the fairings. At first I thought it was the rocker cover gasket leaking but on further investigation it turned out to be a rocker cover retaining bolt that the previous owner had sheared off in the head, and then siliconed it back into the head before selling it on to me, only for it to pop out under crankcase pressure and allow the oil from the top end to escape and leak all down the side and back of the engine. Whilst there is probably a 'proper' way of doing this, I am currently without my car and can't afford to have the bike off the road for any length of time, so I decided to use my cunning and do the repair in situ. The bolt was sheared approximately 13mm below the surface of the rocker cover, so drilling it out freehand was not an option, in the end I drilled a hole (tapping size for 6mm) into a length of 12mm stock to act as a drill guide. With the drill guide in place, a milling cutter was used to flatten off the face of the sheared bolt, before running a drill down it. With the stud new effectively drilled out, taps were used to clean the remaining debris before the new bolt was installed. Including making the drill guide the whole process took around an hour from start to finish, whereas stripping the rocker cover down and doing it 'properly' would likely take much longer.
  14. 200 Allen keys?!? It would take me years to lose all of those!
  15. Stripped the old swingarm back yesterday and gave it some new paint, frame will follow shortly as it is currently awaiting a repair to the sidestand bracket
  16. I've always had breakdown as a standalone policy with GEM Motor Assist, it's about £75 for a personal policy which covers me on anything I ride/drive or am a passenger in, even got my caravan recovered using it when the brakes stuck on and caught fire on the M6 But unlike you crusty lot I'm at that tender age where every insurance company tries to bend me over and aim for penetration, so the only way I can get a policy for sensible money is to get the bare minimum policy (usually third party only) My renewal came in recently for my shogun (2.8 diesel, long wheelbase) at £1200, the fireblade was just under £600, I think the FJ was around £300
  17. Racked up a few miles on the FJ... Really need to sort out that oil leak
  18. Cheers airhead, any guess on the transmission ones aswell?
  19. Ooh! I can be famarse! Gonna sort everything out tomorrow and take some fresh snaps et, OMG this would be awesome!! Not sure if I should include the picture of my pulling the fork legs apart using my car and two bits of chain...
  20. Hey peeps. Just wanting to pick ya'alls brains and see if anyone could tell me what size engine bearings I would be needing for a full rebuild, the ones that are in it currently are noisy so I'm stripping and replacing the lot, but it would be nice to have all the new ones ordered before I do. It's a 1982/83 12W. Ta much Foameh
  21. Oh yes, I remember those fabulous eyebrows... Mmm... Personally I would have loved to have been alive through the 600, 70s and 80s, and I'd just be getting too old to care around the same time the music industry started sharting out utter pap.
