  1. Hmm, didnt think of that... but wont that be expensive to insure at 17? :S, or will i even be able to get insurance on a commercial vehicle at such a young age? plus, i want something i slam to the ground and pack out with a sound system, not sure the birds would appreciate me turning up in a transit...
  2. Hey peeps, just wonderin' if anyone has seen the whereabouts of JimR?, i sent him a PM last month and an email about a week ago but havent heard anything... hope he's not had a spill on the fizzy or the like :S. Jim, if your out there gis' a shout - Steve
  3. Several times, but a few more would be nice, 9 weeks in this place does things to a man...
  4. Cor', i love it when Goff cracks the whip... to think that us lot on the forum get that for free, wheras a lot of middle-aged men have to good money for that sort of thing
  5. haha, its comments like that that keep me going in these dark times, ive just been back-flighted 2 weeks in my RAF training so i could use a laugh atm. the astra van sounds like a good idea, not 100% sure what the maximum weight is that i can tow without taking a further test but i think its 750kg as my brother looked into it last year before he lost his license (muppet), but will check if/when the time comes.
  6. as mentioned a'fore, i will be moving a lot of sh*t around and probably towing a trailer, so an engine size of around 1.6 would be ideal. tbh im more set on the Golf GL estate, bit of street cred and fairly practical. the golf and the corolla are the only small sized estates i can find... without resorting to a volvo
  7. well folks, the time has come for me to think about buying a cage, within which to safely contain myself away from the bitter cold of winter, and prevent my genitals from shrinking and falling off due to frostbite. now, ive got my theory test booked for the 14th November (was the earliest saturday i could find ) and i will be fitting in practical theory tests around my RAF Training, So my thoughts have now turned to which bitchin' ride i should get. Ideally it needs to be an estate as i will be moving around a lot and need plenty of space (plus all the chavs have hot hatches and they are more expensive to insure), a decent sized engine as i will be doing lots of motorway mileage to and from home possibly towing a trailer (<750kg), but at the same time it needs to be good on fuel so far i have found two vehicles i like the look of: 1 - Volkswagen Golf GL (1.6 Petrol, or 1.9 Diesel) 2 - Toyota Corolla Estate - (1.3 Petrol) Insurance for both of these cars is estimated to be £2099.66, monthly payments of £175w/ £478 Deposit, i dont mind paying extra for insurance to get a car that im comfortable with. does anyone have any opinons as to which cars i should look at?, or any experainces with the cars i am currently looking at. no real rush im just doing a bit of research is all regards Steve
  8. moral of the story is JAWA = AWESOME i.e.... FOAMY = AWESOME LOL, i pwned u n00bs, l33t h4x0r!
  9. ooh arr, i'd like to have a poke at 'er haystack...
  10. not quite, but im pretty sure it touched cloth
  11. f*ck me peeps, i hear all these horror stories about people having accidents on bikes most days, but i never fully understood the fear of it until last night.80 on the way back from halton, about 8pm as i came into newbury up a single road, lit by streetlights at 30mph (just before a speed camera), there was an oncoming car stationary, indicating to turn right across my lane into a driveway, now, being a cocky young shite i assumed he/she had seen me and carried on, as i got nearer the stupid tw*t started to turn, i shat myself, put the anchors on, locked the back wheel and braced for impact, thankfully i missed the back of the car by about 3 inches but f*ck me if it didnt shake me up big time... didnt feel right being on the DT today... ... just thought id share my near-death experiance... could do with a hug, Goff ... *hint hint*
  12. fit a different expansion chamber and exhaust, change the front sprocket to a larger one or the rear sprocket to a smaller one, replace the reeds with performance ones. no idea if the 80LC barrel will fit
  13. Ah, its nice to hear the ol' warhorses have found their place in society and not been completely forgotten... not long now and (hopefully) my Jawa will be roadworthy, and i will finally win the heart of the fair lady Goff
  14. ah fair doos, i just assumed it was a seca because of the front end styling... looked a bit seca-ish... but you have to admit, "Vegas" sounds almost as awesome as "Maverick" , and when the chicks see my roll up on my Jawa they will be all over me, i would have to fight them off with my awesome biceps of awesomeness, because i would be sooooo awesome...
  15. thankfuly our CBRN suits are fairly easy to get in and out of, takes about 6 or 7 minutes to get fully dressed including helmet and respirator, but even outside on a chilly autumn morning it gets feckin' hot in there!, the intake before us messed up on something bad and ended up having to run around the training hangar fully dressed in CBRN suits for 40 minutes! last week was all first aid training, administering CPR, putting a casualty into the recovery position e.t.c next week is a bit easier and a lot more interesting... weapons! , i had the first 3 lessons yesterday, holding the rifle, disassembling it, cleaning it, safety checks e.t.c and next friday is a day at the range . another 3 weeks and i'll be stood on the parade square all dressed and pressed in my No.1 uniform
  16. Ouch, Astropine poisoning?, i had to run through all the drills today as part of a practical test, things like donning the respirator in under 9 seconds i did outside of the gas chamber (or "respirator test facility" as it is now called), but other things such as administering a combipen, changing the respirator canister, drinking using the respirator straw and decontaminating (which involved taking off the respirator, rubbing my face, neck, ears and hair with DKP2 powder and replacing the respirator) were all done inside the RTF in the presence of CS gas But everyone in my flight passed the tests, we had a good laugh and all in all a good day, finished at 3pm and was home in newbury by half 5, 75 miles on the DT lasting 2 hours and it didnt skip a beat!
  17. pretty much half way through now, just finished day 28 and im currently doing my CBRN training with the regiment. spending the majority of the day dressed in a boiling hot chemical protection suit doing various drills such as taking off my helmet, taking my respirator out of its bag and putting it on within 9 seconds all good fun when you're in a room full of CS gas , (which, by the way, will clear a blocked nose like you'd never believe!) next week is first aid training, the week after is weapons training, then its basically just a week of admin until i grad on the 21st (hopefully!) was allowed home last weekend and this weekend, i also brought the DT back with me last weekend so if im allowed local leave in the evenings i can find a quite road and go for a play

i dont understand... what does she mean?...
  19. Like an intercooler type system? (only without the turbo, i suppose), it would be possible but i dont know what difference it would make, would mean adding extra weight and pipes which could get messy and frustrating...
  20. i thought tom cruise had a Seca in top gun, and they flew the F-14 tomcats... :S. nevertheless, fork seals and oil have been ordered, so once the stanchions return from re-chroming (thanks again, Jim! ) i can get it on its wheels, another weekends work and it'll be ready to fly
  21. no, the Jawa isnt flying yet, its still in my dads shed with no front end , just need to change the front brake pads and make a rear brake pushrod...

    It lives!!

Managed to source a replacement alternator rotor from the Jawa owners club, and now im on my weekend leave i have had time to fit it, took a few kicks to start it after 3 weeks of not being run but now it lives!, getting about 13v across the battery with the engine idleing and 14.5v at about 2000-3000rpm. equals one happy foamy t'is coming together nicely...
