  1. GOD, some of that stuff was cool!!! I actually paid LESS money for my vintage Casio watch than it cost to buy back then - Even less if you factor in inflation....
  2. Start the bike up and run it for a few minutes. That way the treatment will reach the carbs.
  3. Very cool!! Those indicators are very good at doing what they're supposed to - Get noticed by other drivers. They have the same ones on the V-Max, apparently.
  4. Never heard of this Orange thing. Must just be where you live. Plenty of Viragos round our way. I can count over 20 riders that I know.
  5. A 400cc is usually dead on 33bph, so no need to fit a restrictor. I remember being very comfy on the Yamaha XJ-400 when I was doing my DAS. I also recall the Suzuki GS500 was fucking horrendous!! Pretty much any bike can be restricted, so it's up to you - I personally would love someone to ride a restricted Triumph Rocket III or a Hayabusa, just because it meant they could legally ride one!
  6. Just the ones you saw. Viragoes depreciate to a certain level and then stay there. 1982 750 in good nick with 90,000 clocked is still valued at almost £2,000!! Never known one to go particularly wrong and even the issues I have heard about are easy and fairly cheap to fix.
  7. Being an engineer, I actually understood most words... Had to look up a few because Americans like to use different words for everything. Not a faucet, it's a TAP.....
  8. It is solid as a rock, mate. Parts are still fairly easy as it's a popular bike. Certainly pay less than a grand for a non-runner, probably around the 6-800 mark.
  9. It was forwarded down through about fifty different bike clubs, via another fifty. Googling, it only shows up on bike forums, though. If you're still suspicious, use this instead:
  10. Yeah - Just about any motorcycle parts shop. Very easy to find. If they don't have it in stock, they can order you one in. What you will likely find is that they'll dig out a longer pattern part with the same fitments as whichever cables you need. If it still can't be done (and I know it can), your other option is to have cables custom made. Brake lines aren't that expensive, so with that go for a braided line - They're cool and much better than normal rubber ones.
  11. See PM, mate - Also note the laughing Smiley - t'was a joke!! And I only slightly murder people...
  12. I have the figure of 33mm in my head, for some reason.... Does that look about right?
  13. Just to clarify - I am NOT a bike thief as Up.yours suggests. I know how to (non-destructively) defeat many mechanical security mechanisms and I own a lot of tools designed for just that purpose... but that doesn't mean I go around doing so. Just like I am "trained to kill" in several different ways and own lots of medieval and contemporary weaponry, but I don't go round killing people.... although perhaps I should - There's an awful lot of Chavs round this way..... The hacksaw is one of the last resorts. It usually takes a fair while to achieve. Thieves prefer quick and quiet, in that order, wherever possible. Just like your chain can eventually be broken/cut... But how long it takes, combined with any other security you have, visibility, likelihood of getting beaten up in the attempt, etc is what either makes your bike a target, or one that the thief ignores while he looks for an easier score...
  14. Try some fuel additive. Several companies make stuff that you add to the fuel which acts like anti-freeze. Guards against carb icing and the like. Should find it in any MC parts or accessories shop. Failing that, Hein gericke, M&P, Busters Accessories and the other online places should do it. You add something like a capfull per 10 litres or somesuch. Claire uses it and never has any problems starting her bike up.
  15. Heya Dave. OK, first point - Always check (or replace) the cheapest parts first. First thing to do is check you're getting charge. Check the voltage with ignition off, engine running and then engine revving. That may indicate whether the battery or reg/rec is at fault. It could also be the generator - Now this is where I fall down as electrics is not my strong suit - One of the coils may have gone in the generator, which could be an expensive replace. But, check all your connections - Quite probably, you have a faulty connection or a bad earth somewhere. Do you have any electric accessories attached? Heated grips? SatNav?
  16. Do you open the choke up before you start it? It should be running OK within about 30 seconds. Some bikes warm up faster/better if you stand them upright off the sidestand (ie sit on it and lift it straight).
  17. Does the starter turn? Are you using full choke? Have you checked all the safety switches? Checked you're in Neutral and all that?
  18. THIS is your first post??!! I apologise in advance if Nikesb1111 has a legitimate reason for asking, but this just reads as a Chav wanting to score tips for nicking a bike. Empty profile, no info, no location, nothing else aside from "How do I start this bike without a key". Looks dodgy as hell and most street-wise people will refrain from posting an answer to prevent such thefts and their methodology from becoming public knowledge. Normally you don't buy bikes without a key unless you know what you're doing anyway. Certainly, you should have proof of legal ownership... However, if you have a legitimate reason, I suggest you privately PM/email one of the admins with photos of the bike, including the engine and frame numbers, together with scanned copies of the V5 log book and the paper part of your licence, proof of address or some other way of proving you own this bike. I'm certainly reluctant to publicly give away what is essentially methods for stealing bikes - If you can prove you own it, we will gladly help you on this!!
  19. Bike: Check battery, check kill switch, check you're in Neutral, etc... Might need more descriptive info on what happens when you try and start it. Front wheel: Check the front brake isn't binding, make sure the disc isn't obstructed, perhaps strip and clean the brake assembly.
  20. Lies, LIES!!!! I'm riding quite happily in this.... well, as happy as I can be with frozen bits.
  21. OMG... I could make at least three robots and a spaceship out of all that lot!!!
  22. Or just fit any 7/8" diameter bars that you like the feel of.

    world cup

Perhaps that's what we need, at least for a bit - NO welfare, so people have to get up off their arse and work for a living. No underage/single-parent pregnancy - People wil be too scared that they can't afford it. No playing/screwing the system - There isn't one.

    what to buy

ST1100 Pan - Get an Ex-Police model. It will likely have surface/cosmetic scarring through use, but should be in MINT condition service-wise. Those guys really look after their kit!! So much so, that I'm slowly saving up for one myself!! You can get a very good Ex-Police one for £2500 - Expect 70,000 on the clock (whgich is barely broken in for these things), minor scratches, fully restored 2-person seating (or you can request the Police set-up be left) and probably a decent warranty from the dealer - which leaves you much more for accessories, kit, clothing, gadgets and all sorts of cool things!! Even £1500 will get you a good condition model. Just don't be upset if there's a few more scratches or the occasional bolt cover missing.
