  1. Reed flutter indeed. Your bike uses a 2 coil ig system. One controls the cdi to 4500 to 5000 rpm the other then takes over. A bad connection from the low speed coil cause everything you mentioned.

  3. If you got 12k out of your regular tyres stick with em. I only get 5-6k from mine before they whiteline badly.

  5. Little confusing, there is a Dt125, 1G0 but it sort of blended into the MX so both kind of exist. Records back then were sketchy and model dates got a bit blurred. The Haynes manual ISBN 1 85010 300 3 (not sure if its still in print) actually gives specs for 1G0 as a twinshock and as a monoshock if you read the specs carefully. For the UK at least. The difference seems to be noted as Dt125 (1G0) is the Twinshock and the Dt125E (1G0) is the MX. That is not constant but common. Your engine/chassis number being 1G0-000101 onwards.. The 125E will start 2A8 that would be the Monoshock.

    DVLA stupidity!

    The mot is next. Speed cameras already pick up on mot and insurance lacking vehicles. They just cant issue the ticket. It has to be done by an officer. For now.

  10. Something to check is if the bike is an import originally meant for somewhere cooler. That oil pipe sounds like anti icing kit.
  11. Then why do Harleys exist? Lets be honest as a motorcycle there crap. My personal 'wanna do project' and i have said it many times on here is to bolt a 200 or 250 dx motor into a dt175. Do the up an under exhausts too so its a TDR 250 mx if you like. Thats pointless as well with your logic.

  13. Are you sure its the bike overheating. Sounds more like the carbs/fuel is overheating. Bike manufacturers test for this type of thing so it should be ok. Bikes in hot air need a much leaner mixture as hot air contains less oxygen. With the point you mentioned about the air filter sort of proving it. Those engines are bomb proof so some fiddling wont hurt it. My choice would be lowering the jet needle one notch and see what the effect is. That should lean out the low to midrange leaving you safe with full throttle.
  14. If you have enough cash then 'because' is all the reason you need. People spend hundreds of thousands on paintings. There is a few grand in it maybe but its change to some. Not me unfortunately.

    Yeah. Bad system if your selling privately. Makes things really difficult unless their is a grace period. Being cynical though(me! No) it means people using dealerships. At the very least second hand dealers. Will make avoiding the sharks and finding a good old car harder. Unless the seller brings it to you when its being sold. Yeah right. It will put older cars off the road as they will be scrapped instead. Which i think is very much the point.

  17. You going to use this one then. Looks tidy. OMG You were sober. Miracles can happen. Not a lot of sand in that garage, you coming at the weekend.
  18. If its running well leave it alone. Change out the plugs and check after another 500 miles. The plug differences are prob down to different temperatures. 1 and 4 may not burn so completely cos they run cooler than 2 and 3. They may get less air at your normal riding rpm. When my 600 was tuned they had completely different settings for the middle 2 carbs, even the needles were different. So stock bikes will always show a difference. Sign of running well to be honest. Think about it. It is nigh impossible for cyl 1 and 4 to be out by the same amount.
