  1. Then beg borrow buy or steal one as those chocolate block connectors are crap. They will suffer from vibration temperature and corrotion. You would be better off twisting the wires together with some pliers and wraping with tape.
  2. Solder and shrink tubing ideally. Crimps fitted with a PROPER rachet crimping tool. Choclate blocks are for easter.

    fuel differences

I used to run my suzuki on it. No choice as the engine was tuned to it. The ron number gives the volativity of the fuel an the energy in it. Lpg is something like 104. The trouble is to get the benefit the ig has to be set for it. As i have already said your bike is new enough to adapt automatically to it and will give a tiny bit more power and run a little smoother. The important bit is the adaptive part. Changing from one to the other requires roughly 4 degrees of ig. My dt is over 30years old. The only way the ig set point will change is if i strip the motor down to do it. Not a simple job also it is one of the few things DT's are sensitive to. Get it out and the piston melts. So i will stick with the std stuff. Its still far juicier than the washing up liquid across the pond. Some of that stuff is in the ron80's

    fuel differences

Fuel is fuel. Grouch may have a little extra go because the brain will tweak the ig to suit the fuel. The fi ( if is is fi) 'ooh a palendrome!' may adjust too. My dt on the carb and ig are pretty solid. To swap to super i would have to re set the timing and that would be a pain in the arse all ways round. Its bad enough with the weather all arsed up messing with the fueling. I will go with "if it aint broke" and stay with the std stuff
  5. For me its diy first every time. Born out of being skint for the most part. Kids, morgage, yawn... Same for everybody i suppose but if i can do something myself then i'm winning. I have done wifeys timing chain on her car twice now. (known fault on nissan almeras) cost me under 60quid each time. At a garage its 600 minimum. All i had was my kit and a haynes manual.
  6. For me someone that posts an intro wants to become a part of the group. The introductions themselves are a contribution and can kick off some very funny banter. As well as a few wind ups. Plain first post questions are as far as it matters one post wonders. Use the options within the forum and see just how many opw there are. The regular contributers are well aware of this and dont normally respond with much if any info. I base each post on its merrits. Well written question i will ofter comment on. Text talk illiteracy i ignore.
  7. Yes clean the disc with degreaser but dont ride on the pads. Take them out and using 80grade paper sand off any contamination. Then refit and treat them like new pads for a few miles..first 20-30 so they can bed back in again. They should be fine then.
  8. Wouldn't give tuppence for any of em. Just mass market focused stuff. A 350b would be nice. If its original. Reverse or an sp v twin tzr could be tempramental fun. But an R6! Or anything else a current. Nah.
  9. On a 2006 you could cross over....... Go smoken...dump the doorstop and have some proper power. 2 stroke.... Something from a dt.....200 maybe. Need work but hey you asked.
  10. Cock all. They have a lot of complex electrics and wiring,(like your spedo). Unless my username is wrong i bet them electrics have a fail by date too. Bloke in a shed can do nothing with them. Nothing is remotely interchangeable, 900cc gsxr anybody (750 top on a 6). Im sure something will survive but i dont want it. The TDR is as modern as i will get.
  11. You need to check how she is running. Fully unrestricted a 240, even a 250 can be needed.
  12. A good one will do it. Not for long though. The TZR can better that by 10mph and the v and reverse cylinder bikes can do a bit more still with the full potato homogolation bikes good for more on that.
  13. It will help if you pop onto the new members area and introduce yourself. There are several very experienced xs owners on here that will be happy to help. Once you have introduced yourself It is best keeping to one thread per subject. Gets very confusing otherwise. Can't help with your problem but you should get it sorted. Welcome.
  14. When i get home tonight i'll see what i can work out.
  15. I sympathise. Many moons ago when i was a quiet polite teen.........ahem. I bought an astra gte. Fast as f and unknown to me owned previously by a right villan. At its worse i went into the station with 8 priducers in 4 days. None for any offence. When i went to the station the officer on the desk nearly choked. He took the top one, processed it then told me i would NOT be stopped again. He was right.
  16. Thats the idea john. I have permission from the missus lol so maybe a long weekend. Range of the tdr is limited so will need to look at it proper over the winter.
  17. I'm jealous. Would love to but don't think my bikes are quite up to it. I will do a ride round the war stuff though. She should handle that.........he says........?
  18. I have never really understood how bike manf came up with such a woefull method of chain care. For such a fundamental performace item you would think they would do more with it. A badly set chain can cost you 10 To 15 per cent of your power. Personally i ignore all the bull in the manual and when i have fitted a new chain i rachet the susp down to full comp THEN set the chain slack. How on earth can an inch of slack with no load on say a 1200 be fine. Prob fine for a skinny bstd. What happens when fat bloke plus rally luggage gets on. Its got to overload stuff like transmission and wheel bearings....
  19. No such thing as a small biker. We're all motorcyclists. Our right to choose our bike is as fundamental to our interest as petrol. I like 2strokes. Others like cruisers, just choice. We all have the same fights to the road. So, stop appologising. Turn the caps off and learn punctuation as there is none whatsoever in that post. Oh yeah welcome to the nuthouse where the inmates REALLY DO run the asylum.
  20. First half of the engine or frame number would be good.
  21. JASON'S coming ................ Do i bring the chain saw, or just go with the hockey mask????????
  22. Its more likely one of the road tax/insurance check vans that are poping up. They use one out near thrapston quite often. Similar van just blue. Thats unmarked as well.
  23. Cant fault the bridgestones i have. I have been using trail wing 301/302 for years. Used em in all weathers on and off road. Really good all round dirt bike tyre, you will get 8 to 10 k from a front and at least 6 from a rear. Too.
  24. Hmm. Let me see. Been riding the same bike for a quater century. Same bike has taken me over the same roads to work for nigh on a decade. All i had to do was look away slightly, woah never thought of that. My route to work is out in the country. No streetlighting nothing. The contrast when a car comes at you is vast. Looking away makes little difference. The headlights of cars over the last few years are now so bright that going from dim 1970's headlight to modern headlights. Esp those audi's means you cannot see full stop for several second. Using the tint means i can see simple as that. I am only using it to kill the glare then lifting it afterwards and it makes a real difference.
