  1. Got to be better than the rotors spinning below though eh.
  2. Hey its a water pumper. You dont want pure brilliant white either.
  3. Complete and utter bollocks. That cleared it up. Its not hot here is it. What about bikes in Greece or Spain. 40+ deg c. Thats hot.
  4. How did you figure 2 sizes bigger was 270 and that it needed more fuel?. Is it a new pipe? Does it need decoking? What is the air filter like? Plug condition/age? Thats just for starters 2strokes are a funny old beast.
  5. The smoke should be BLUE. Riding style will make a big difference. If he is chugging around at 3 to 4000 rpm with big throttle trying to use torque it will go through oil and fuel like an Arab. If he has a lifetime of car driving behing him 7k rpm will sound horrid. Even though thats where the bike wants to be.
  6. You need to introduce yourself in the new members area. Say a little about yourself. Be lucky to get a reply otherwise.
  7. Doesent matter who makes it your clutch is slipping. Note it is slipping with the ebc springs. You need to replace the clutch plates. All of them and fit stronger springs. The heat from slipping will have damaged the ones you have.
  8. More likely coming from the air filter drain. Still worth a vist to the stealer if there any good they should check for you.
  9. With that big bore you have doubled the horsepower and you and that clutch will now be very close friends. You need heavy duty springs as well as new plain and friction plates. If you can find one a DT 50 m (the earlier twin shock) had a stronger clutch. Although you will need the primary pinion too I think.
  10. It is the only part. Swap the electrics across from the blowm motor. Thats the base plate (stator) with the coils and the rotor.
  11. But there old school. On bridgestones my TDR250 (same sizes) can touch the pegs down. Bit scary and it is under power but touch they do. Thats well into knee down angles on your lc. If you change wheels, susp forks etc you can improve. Otherwise I really really urge you to stay stock.
  12. Dont fall into the big is best trap. The correct sized modern tyre will be comfortably better than any oversize. Easily good enough to scrape things.
  13. Just sarcasm. Dt175 gearbox internals are all but indestructable in proper use. Even improper use doesent really hurt them. Its basic with sensible tolerances and built to last. I have never known one fail without real serious neglect and or abuse.
  14. Hahahahahahahaha Dt175 with gearbox internals problem. No. Its the clutch.
  15. And that doesent happen anyway. So nobody in possesion of their own 50cal. Maybe a minigun or 2. So what.
  16. How is this any worse than any other bullet. It hits you and kills you. Thats what its supposed to do. You can get all sentimental if you like but its a necessary evil. Taking that view over a bullet, ever get squeamish over your chicken dinner. Maybe wonderd how dairy cattle stay in milk all the time. Moaning about them is blinkered at best. I dont want to be hit by one. Hell any bullet. We ignore more than enough gore in our every day living. Why is this so special. As a machine I think it marvelous.
  17. The problem is 2fold. 1 The parts were rare in 92, you may be able to use tzr125 cdi and servo controller with the servo and cabling. 2 The bigger issue. A full fat dt125 is above a learner licence. As a full power bike its even above the restricted licence limit due to power to weight ratio. The good news is a 92 bike in good health with a good pipe is no slouch. Certainly quicker than all the modern stuff as its a quick bike thats been detuned. What was done back then by me and some others was to get the cable fittings for the powervalve and use a choke cable (remember them) on the bars to swap between high rpm power and low. Thats just as illegal as the pv servo though.lol The later DTR's were designed to make learner levels of go from the outset. Thats why they cant get them to go like the old ones. As well as the de restricting madness. Modern 125's aren't restricted. So your tuning them. Very different.
  18. We are talking about a bike in Greece foams. Dont recall rain being a big issue. A
  19. On a 92 you have all the low rpm power your going to get. The power valve cleans up the middle and then gives the power it's designed for at higher revs. Not having the servo is a restriction. The full power stuff in 92 had around 24 hp Finding the electronics will be the tricky part. Tying them up with the correct servo.
  20. Think that's more right of passage. I have taken my share of ribbing. Even now, eh John (2 stroke). Same as my mate coming off because he wanted one more pass by the camera with his knee down. He came past the camera alright, knee, arm, exhaust, etc down and I got it all on his fancy camera. Once I knew all he hurt was his pride and his bike (pegs, bar ends etc nothing expensive). I couldn't breathe for laughing. There is still a little bit of, dunno? Not bravado, more like a squadie clearing basic training. You didn't get the nod for the stare. You got the nod for walking the walk. Also, Check book charlies are fair game.
  21. Didn't argue though. Eh.
  22. +1 The main jet could be loose, ethanol damage could have increased the bore. Needle jet/emulsion tube issues as well. You mention all gaskets, crank seals?
  23. My missus was put off by being 'at the track' but it isn't. Remember once your clear of the money pits in Douglas there is plenty of normal IOM holiday stuff too. The wheel, fairy bridge. It really is a lovely place to go. If you treat the racing as a bonus to a great biking holiday she will be well happy.
  24. My missus loved the TT. The atmosphere. No hassle just a great place and great racing. Although the racing is better on telly. The folks there will only see the racers 4 times a race. If your watching Dunlop he will be a blur. Recons there is a 132 in that BMW. I did a lap on the Sunday and made it inside the qualifying time to ride. At around 26 minutes for the lap(that's about 100mph average lol) I thought my Lil six hundred suzi was going to pop. Got to be careful too though, a German trike killed a load of riders the year I was there. All the links fahrne signs are there to stop accidents. Plenty of em forget though, red mist and all. A lot of people like riding the course in reverse too. Huh I'm tempted to go but it's just money money money now. The classic in August though?
