  1. No ken do on curry. Violently allergic to cumin. Seriously a good sniff from a jar of the stuff will have me talking to huey. Closest i get to a curryhouse is the door.
  2. Your the one on a freshly messed with 2stroke. True 2stroke owners will haved lived with the pending death for so long their immune. 'Whatever' being the normal response. They generally ride covering the clutch too though lol.
  3. Dunno if you will like it. Just some beer, greasy food, good mates, a lot of pisstaking and john and kev getting lost. Cant wait..
  4. Its quite a way from bolt in. Engine mounts, exhaust mounts, airbox. Chain is on other side i believe. Certainly an idea for a capable road legal off roader. The insurance will still treat it as a modified yz though. Tank range will be a pain in the arse too.
  5. I still dont think its the steering head. My TDR has a knock on small bumps. Its the front mudguard rattling/flexing on the fork brace under it. Took me weeks to figure.
  6. Just to hold the party here. Andy is it a drum front brake. Could be the antirotation lug clunking back into place. Even a couple of mm of movement after corrosion was disturbed will be felt as a clunk.
  7. You will have to ask. John used the top last year. The rest of us were opposite the shower block near the trees. Seemed ok to me.
  8. It has a guide slot in the slide. That runs on the opposite side to the idle speed adjuster. That pushes on an angled part of the slide. Very easy to do.
  9. None of the ground is that bad. Its the trains that are a pain in the arse.
  10. Never stopped us last year. Weather does what it does.
  11. Isnt copy and paste wonderful. Jims right too many threads so i will lock this one
  12. Only thing to watch is your indicator warning. If its 2 separate lamps your fine. Just the one? Then leave that as a plain old bulb. Much easier. Otherwise you need to start messing with resistors and extra earths.

    Punctures

The odds of terminal failure isnt woth the hassle of carrying the kit. Try riding a 2stroke. You are far more likely to blow a piston than get a puncture in my experience. Tyres dont fail like they used to. More than enough stuff to worry about without that.
  14. Hi i will check my workshop manual when i get home. Should be today. Although its beautifull down here in somerset.
  15. A dt175 will happily run backwards all it needs is a backfire to give the piston enough energy and off she goes. Generally though it will be badly set ig timing.

We have way more rules over here. Insurance etc. Plus bikes are far harder to keep running. Things like the split o ring on my TDR. Yamaha wanted me buying a complete tank assy. The o ring isnt a single item anymore. Then chuck in the mot. Which we need every year. Not to mention insurance. People buy new instead and get rid at 2 or 3 yrs old. Only dealers messing with them because of the electronics. Net result a split in motorcyclist types. There is us lot. Do our own work and route out parts to stay on the road riding our bike trusting our own skill and being the dieing breed that will admit their at fault. Then you have the people that wouldnt know a spark plug if you hit them with it. They want the fancy helmet. The leathers, whatever boots Milandi is wearing. Pah. Net result bike shops full of useless crap for the most part. All my stuff comes from Fowlers in Bristol. You any nearer Andy.

The cap resistance and plug resistance have NO effect on the cdi its electrically separate. What resistance do dyna reccomend. Personally reducing the resistance of the ht coil output will make a huge difference to spark energy (its only rf suppresion anyway). Ohms law says so.
  18. You need to say hi in the new members area. Its a bike forum full of bike enthusiasts. Post like this one rarely get answered. Worse still because your bike is rare.
  19. Thats what you get with all the new stuff. Should have got a tidy one and just wa... sorry. Left it out in the rain and rode it. Instead of sterilising it.
  20. Ah thought we were talking about the safety pins at the back of the sw'arm. Item 29 in mervs post. That item 17 has been a big bolt on mine for 20 years. Never knew what size.

Resisted caps AND resisted plugs. Thats a no no Andy. You have resisted caps or resisted plugs. That may well be your problem.
  22. You mean M6 neo. I did the same thing myself.

There just little transformers. They step up the voltage from whatever the cdi sends out. Ballast resistors are used to help starting. In normal use the ballast resistor brings the voltage to the coils down to their actual rated voltage. Typically 7v or therabouts. When you start the vehicle the ballast resistor is bypassed. This ofsets the drag on the electrical system from the starter. Then once running it comes back in. Thus keeping the coil voltage in check. None of this changes the fact that coils with a good earth and a feed dobbed breifly on a good battery of anything over 6v should spark.

So if you put 12v to the coils connecton at the cdi end (cdi disconnected oc)manually from the battery, they spark when you remove the power?
  25. Dont do that firstly. Slice is right its engine noise. There may be a valve needing a tweak. My questions.... Does it go when its hot? Oil level and when was it last changed?
