    tax in post

you are right one copper might ignore it another one might have got out of bed the wrong side or not like bikes, this is how stupid the law is,now with anpr they can tell before getting out of there car that you are taxed have insurance and a current mot but the offence is not displaying a current tax disc. a few years ago i got my tax reminder and a few days later went to the post office and renewed my tax when i came outside and came to put my new tax disc in i discovered that my tax disc holder was missing ! god knows how long i had been running about without it, to this day i dont know if it had been stolen or just fell off.

    tax in post

if you had googled dvla you would have found this quote onthere site about taxing online You can renew your tax any day from the fifth day of the month. If you prefer to tax in the last few days of the month, there is now an exemption from the offence of not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month and allows time for the new disc to arrive in the post. The exemption only applies if applications are made before the current tax disc or SORN expires. hope that helps

    old yamaha

never heard of an rxs350! but have heard of an xs350 but it wasnt a motor bike that yamaha made but a 2 channel amplifier they make. as every body else says frame and engine number and then we stand a chance of finding out what bike you have.
  6. no non of us know if he is guilty or innocent of the crimes he was accussed of but that is true of every case that we read in the paper, pete towndsend of the who downloading child porn (research for a book)?, gary glitter and every oyher case we read of in the paper or hear of on the news from the man down your street in court for shop lifting to the local youth who stabbed and killed somebody, no we are reliant on what we read in the press or hear on television and on that the general public make up there own minds! so on the reports that i read not once did i read that he was tacking out libel action or court action on any of his accusers, but i did read that like gary glitter he paid off some of these people which to me are not the actions of a innocent man. his music talents are a different matter that is down to personal choice and i for one am old enough to remember the jackson five and did like some of there music but as for michael jackson no i am sorry but i dont think he was a musical genius and on that i have to disagree. as for your comment on people on here opening there minds before they open there mouths, i agree withdirty dt , until freedom of speech is withdrawn i will voice my opinion.
  7. jesus mate the total amount of oil in your bike if not changing the oil filter is only 1.4litre so if you have put 1litre in without draining the oil you have major problems. having to much oil in can cause as many problems as to little. the sight glass is on the right hand side of the bike behind the exhaust it is a bastard to see, when the bike is level the level of oil should be no more than half way up the sight glass, there are no marks on the sight glass. if you drain the oil and replace the oil filter it should take 1.75litre but as said oil only 1.4litre,to much and the first problem you will notice will be from the clutch before far worse problems happen.
  8. me to, have not been on the site for the last 5 days due to virgin media, no broadband as there was a fault there end what a bunch of wankers 5 days to fix. based near drewpy swinton/eccles area
  9. never came across anything like that when working on the bike, there are a lot of storys going about on how to make the bike faster in the archives on here and how to derestrict them the truth is they are not restricted the weight of the bike alone is enough restriction. have got the workshop manual and it shows no rings other than a sealant ring
  10. if i read this right you are talking xvs125 dragstar? well as far as i know there were no restrictor rings in my exhaust system! the thread you might have got this information from was for a xv125 virago as i read it also and then realised it was different, as the sprockets sizes they were talking about were so different, had my exhaust off a couple of times no rings in there.
  11. i can only give you the measurments for the xvs dragstar but it should be similar. fuel level(above the line on the float chamber) 9.5mm to 10.5mm the pilot screw 2 turns out hope this helps. some more info in no paticular order as computer went tits up
  12. i think you are pissing in the wind if you think some one is going to strip the seats off, tank off,air filter off and strip down there carb to take a photo, but what i can do is show you what it looks like with this photo xvs 125 dragstar hope this helps just seen your other post thought you were talking about your dragstar? as it is a yamaha owners site
  13. hi, well yet another paul i am 62yrs and have been riding bikes since the early sixties, i fell in love with motorbikes after my older cousin took me on the back of his bonnie when i was 11 and have been hooked ever since, i am single and have 2 grown up sons neither of which like bikes, i hate mobile phones and people i meet that tell me motorbikes are dangerous and ask me why i am still riding a bike at my age! wtf has age got to do with it.
  14. hi, used spray cans hammerite smooth red but it looks more orange ,rubbed it well down with wet and dry then two coats of primer, rubbed down again with 1200 wet and dry three coats of smooth red it was all going well till it started raining and flies got on the tank,no garage so did it outside not ideal ended up hand painting the tank but it looked a mess but as i was going out with a couple of the lads from here rushed it ,have now stripped the tank down and redone it this morning and it looks a lot better, it says metal paint on the cans but as i was spraying metal and plastic gave it a try looks a lot better now,out at weekend with the lads so no doubt they wil tell me! lol

  18. well i have thought for a while of changing the colour of my fz maybe keeping it the same but no i decided its my bike who cares started off doining the wheels kept them white. after that because they came out ok decided to strip the bike down and do the rear panels and fairings well decided to paint it red (drivers must see me now) first coat looked more orange but as it dried starts to look more red final coat and some decals just the petrol tank to do now but as i have no garage rain stops play so time for a brew
  19. as per the other replie it should show up on the barrel or info from the model number on the frame it wont show 79cc as they were in fact 72cc. next month in the july issue of classic motorcycle mechanics magazine it will be showing the restoration of a yamaha chappy, this months june shows one bought off e bay. so for a couple of dollars a month you should get plenty of tips good luck with your project.
  20. yes, its a yamaha chappy sold in droves in the usa available in 50 and 80cc versions about in the 70s and early 80s,also known as an Lb50 and Lb80

  24. whats wrong with the drum and monkey?
  25. mine is a 2001 it tops out about 74, if you refer back to ttaskmaster earlier post about changing gear. On a motorway or NSL dual carriageway, you should be able to manage 65mph in 4th and gently cruise up to 70-ish, before knocking it into 5th to just ease the engine. From there, decent throttle management will allow you to drift up to 74-ish from there. for a long while i would struggle to get 70 or over, the problem was me i was changing up to early and the bike would not seem to go over 60ish,after changing the way i ride and changing up through the gears later i have no problem with reaching 70. i love the bike to bits even though i have bigger and faster bikes its the one i get most comments on
