  1. Hi, That wheel may have a Yam hub but does not hang out with the 278 part in total !!! (wheel) but u should get away with puting it in a bulto ...... but tbh the holes look well naf and serve no perpose ! Regards Jim
  2. Hi Rayne, The process starts .... Andy Smith replied I would guess things should move on at a faster pace now. Regards Jim
  3. Hi Brian, the speed i refer to was for the xt125 of the mid to late 80's . I guess a newer one may have had a higher performance motor in but after looking at this http://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/product...tcm%3A26-254643 your XT125X is going to be chalenged a bit it appears to have the same engine as the XT125R and the YBR 125 but as you say on smaller wheels (which wont help the top end, unless the final drive sprockets have been altered) but in saying that I found this http://www.reviewcentre.com/review331073.html which sort of indicates your bike is par for the course. Regards Jim
  4. Hi Xmas, it would have been better if the vidio had told us how to turn banana's in to fuel Regards Jim
  5. Hi, I guess a disabled exup valve will not slow the bike down that much ,,, is the 'tick' from the cylinder/cylinder head area ? and is the engine running like a 'bag of poo' ? sort of bad idle & poor aceleration but be the same point runs ok if reved up in neutral ? Regards Jim
  6. Hi, when you say it lost a little power what happend ? did the bike turn in to a push home or did it just drop 2 cylinders and run dog ruff ? If the bike failed to start when it lost power (on the restart) you could have a pulse coil gone down but if the bike continued to run at reduced power and failed to restart when you stoped it you may have other problems ... i don't understand 'a lower noise' .. is this engine rattle ? It would be good to know as the XJ600 motor is normally good Regards Jim
  7. Hi, I guess the bike has no spark ? if so I would go for ignition timing first (is the bike has the advance unit .. advance it) then make sure the points open/break @ 1.8mm btdc. I would guess you will have a spark and may run. If it does switch the lights on is it then misfires you have a rough condenser. If you have at this point a spark & every other part of the engine is in good nick look to see if the plug is always wet (fuel soaked) when you try to start the bike you may have other problems. To remove the mag you will need a P134 extractor (in the UK) and a piston stop (some people think the piston stop is a bit rough but tbh it works better than Yamaha's method). I would guess getting the timing right will cure the problem tho Regards Jim
  8. Hi Brian if you are getting 54 mph out of an XT125 you are doing well ! but on the good side it does poo loads to the gallon Regards Jim
  9. Hi Rayne, don't forget what i said earlier YMUK will wait for a reply from the dealer before replying to you which I guess is fair (to get both sides of the problem. Was the Woodruff key the major failure ? Which if it was it would throw the ignition timing to pot & in turn distroy part of the crankshaft. To take this a stage further could the woodruff key shearing and floating around in the engine distroy the cam chain lower drive sprocket (this would take seconds) and in turn distroy the cylinder head and its componet parts and I would guess distroy the cylinder & piston (as the valves get bent and hit the piston and or the bore). If the engine still rattles and lacks performance perhaps the person who rebuilt the engine got the valve timing wrong (which would give a rattle from the top end of the engine and a loss of performance if the timing is set in one way if set the other way it wouldn't run). With the problem you have had I can see why ur upset ... i.e a new engine that has to be rebuilt and tbh I would be annoyed .. but to hit the old chestnut I would guess a dealer fault on the engine problem. which leads me on to the faulty stand switch which should have been a different claim and should have been sorted by the dealer ..... crap dealer I guess use someone else Regards Jim
  10. normally female on a mission .... if you get my drift Regards Jim

    Where?

Hi. an XS1 thats a bike and a ½ but tbh parts may be a problem (if you need them) I would guess if the bike has done less than 20k it will be repairable without buying parts ... the RD is a different ball game with out knowing how old the RD is . or perhaps its a DS it is difficult to comment Regards Jim
  12. Hi & I do not quite understand 'bobber' does this equate to a hacked bike ?.... but I would guess it's some one else's baskit case described as a bobber.whatever that means ! but if you need to ride a bike of this type thats cool but I would guess you will have more probs with it over a std one Regards Jim
  13. I guess I have lost the plot I'm still waiting for the load down on your failure which may make sense of what went wrong please add those points ! Regards Jim
  14. Hi Dave, it looks like a US spec YL1 .... those upswept exhaust are not as good as the euro silencers which made the bike look like a good un (sorry) but I would admit there are other US spec bikes which it may be. Regards Jim
  15. whatever fits ! regards Jim
  16. my turn next on which ever !!!

    Jawa electrics

Hi Steve, I hope the brushes are long enough & their tracks (slip rings) are clean. If this the case that damm coil that lives around the rotor may have died a death Regards Jim
  19. but in time with that (above) insure the dwell is set correctly and the rest of the engine is in good shape XS400's in the UK tended (when new) to give odd results if the bike was not set up as it should be so if you ensure the engine compression is good; the tappits (valve clearance) is correct; Dwell is correct; Timing is correct; Carb balance - correct. The only reason to fit different jets to each carb was to cover up the time the XS400 (in the UK) spent in crates and the carbs got full of the green gunge. back in the day Yamaha (Mitsui) sanctioned this in order to save the factory a bank of carbs before the bike would run correctly .... seems odd. As the bikes have got older I would guess the green gunge would have perhaps of increased. But the above should return an XS400 sohc to running ok, as I have not looked at one of these bikes since the mid 80's my sumission my be incorrect but was well valid then. Regards Jim
  20. I guess you've bin on 'the bow' or what ever is local to u <grin> had to use that as you used all the icons up Regards Jim
  21. oh Ok the wife says that to me also ..... I would guess your not my wife as she is not tech savvy and is to frightened to ride the Divi or the Fizzy even tho she has the licence to ride either Regards Jim
  22. well done I'll join you shortly Regards Jim
  23. Oh OK, i'm (Just or close 2) old enuff for the saga stuff but to date I still perfer the Strongbox to Horlicks which I guess still makes me part of the human race .... and I have no thoughts of going on a coach holiday ! Regards Jim
  24. Hi Dirty, I just had a quote for the 900 & the 2 FS1's at the same money fully comp (thro Slapper Nash) but I would guess £111 FC is good money ! Regards Jim
