Nice report. I love Cornwall, spent 3 years of uni live in Falmouth and would absolutely love to go back. Its just so peaceful and relaxing and the roads are pretty decent too! Its just frustrating that its a good 350 miles for me to even get there now =(

You should always get the bike you want anyway, not what other people tell you to get. Need to be selfish sometimes. Youl enjoy the 650 much more!

Thanks for clearing that up Bippo, i probably wasnt clear enough. I wasnt having a dig or anything Grouch or under estimating you. Just had a thought thats all in case you started delving into stuff that didnt need touching.

When you said you heard a noise from the clutch area was this before or after you knew the clutch wasnt the stator? Im not sure its the clutch as you say its only a couple of gears playing up.

Was around the south of the peak district, was such a good day until then.

Iv also been Grouched recently, 60 miles on a new tyre riding round the peaks aaaand... ruined my day thats for sure, luckily i was only going slowly filtering through traffic. This is the culprit: Went through the bottom of the tyre and out the side wall, completely trashed, waited 2 hours for a recovery truck =(

Met up with my brother recently to make the most of getting out on the bikes together before his baby arrives over the summer. He originally only bought the bike to do a tour of europe and was supposed to sell it when they got back nearly a year a go now! Its definitely tempted me to get more of a road going bike with a nicer seat position as the r6 gets a bit achy on long motorway runs of over 150miles ish. Anyway, that Triumph shifts quicker than it looks and the sound of a nice nice triple never gets old!

Nice choice, you'll love it. They look quite tall bikes to which is always good, iv been torn by the tiger and the multistrada recently but cant decide which i like more!

For OS maps iv always used multimap, it seems bing are all over it now so im not sure what it will be like.

With that sort of mileage youd probably get at least 2k. i sold mine in 2008 with 15k on 03 model for £1900. They seem quite a collectable now, dont let it go for peanuts! Polish up the exhaust, people are attracted to shiney.

Id cash in now whilst you can, do your test and get an xt660 not a wr!

Id change the oil and go from there, might be nothing to worry about. Your model isnt know for a bad gearbox so hopefully all is okay inside.

I used to think that when i went from dirt bikes to a sports bike but to be honest you dont even notice it. On a sports bikes is less turning the handle bars and more leaning, probably doesnt make sense but turning the bars full lock on slow manouveres makes life harder.
