Hi All,

I'm a newbie who's thinking of buying a '78 XS650. I've heard several great things about these bikes, but the few I'm looking at have mag rims. I prefer spokes. I've heard rims are pretty specific for bikes, so does anyone know how hard it would be to switch over?

I used to have a '77 model XS....it had spoked rims.....

So I think the '78 was the 1st year for mag wheels .....pretty sure that wheels from say a '76 or '77 would be a straight bolt on.

Spokies are lighter than those early mag wheels and i think look better

if you are having a set rebuilt use stainless spokes and alloy or stainless rims

not too much more expensive and last much better
