Hi folks! I'm new here. I've been driving a Vespa scooter 200 cc for nearly 12 years but last November I bought a brand new Kawasaki ER-5 and all I can say is..........yupi, yupi, hey!!!!

But now I've been asked to sell an old Yamaha 400 cc. It is 15/20 years old and I don't know if it is a classic bike or how much should I ask for.

I'm lost. I don't know what to do. Should I sell it the way it is? or should I take to the Official Yamaha Service to be repaired?

All inputs are welcome

Thank you very much in advance

That's got less miles than my RD400!

Looks like it could use a good cleaning, but everything seems to be there B)

Potential for a nice little ride I think ;)

Well you have a RD400 there they were fetching silly money in any condition at one time. but not sure if they have muchof a following in spain, now it appeatrs to be all there if that speedo is correct which i very much doubt it is it would be worth something as low mileage, as for price well if you can get it too england anything up to £500 i would say as it is restored properly anything from £1500 to wel what someone is willing to pay,

Well I would certainly say that it is a classic bike, but like Mervin I have no idea if they are sought after in Spain which is what would give it any value. I should think that Spanish bike workshops are the same as British ones, they probably won't know anything about it due to it's age. You need to find someone who rode Japanese bikes in the 70's when these were common.

My advice would be to give it a good clean and then post some pictures for us to see.

Thank you very much for your quick answers!

I'll try to give it a good clean and I'll take some pictures.

But I'm afraid the speedo is correct, altough I'm not 100% confidence about it. I guess this is a 2 stroke engine motorbike which are very dangerous to drive when you're a newbie. The last and only owner only used it for 3 or 4 month. It has remained in a garaje since then.

I thought it was a XS400 as the one shown here:

Anyway I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again folks.

if that is a genuine mileage well it is a real rarity but the tank graphics are wrong the side panel graphic is missing, the whole engine should be black like this
