Moderator YamaHead Posted July 5, 2006 Moderator Share Posted July 5, 2006 Anyone fancy posting a "Top ten riders of all time" to start a real bunch of flames? Well Cap'n baited the hook & I bit it! There's been sooo many great racers since the conception of GP's in 1949..... My Top 10 looks something like this.... 1) Difficult one to nail down........kid of a toss up between Jarno Sarrinen & Rossi 2) Agostini 3) Mike the Bike Hailwood 4) Kenny Roberts Sr. 5) Eddie Lawson 6) Fast Freddie Spencer 7) John Surtees 8) John Kocinski (Weird dude but 1 Helluva Rider!) 9) Kevin Schwantz 10) Barry Sheene I can think of more but there's NO room left on the list! So, What's your Top 10 list look like?
Moderator mervin Posted July 6, 2006 Moderator Share Posted July 6, 2006 = 1 Joey Dunlop & Kenny Roberts senior 2 Barry sheene 3 Steve Hislop 4 Dave Jefferies 5 Ago 6 John Surtees 7 Rossi 8 Sammy Miller (trials more than road racing) 9 Ivan Mauger (speedway) 10 Mike Hailwood Not sure if that is quite the right order keep changing my mind, but we have a lot of riders too choose from, Foggie Saarinen Ove Fundin Neil Mackenzie Kork Ballington too name a few
ANDYROSE
Too many to choose from, but (in no real order)... Mike Hailwood Joey Dunlop Kenny Roberts Barry Sheene Phil Read Giacomo Agostini Jarno Saarrinen Ivan Mauger Barry Briggs Sammy Miller All a bit obvious and from the more popular forms of bike sport perhaps, but how can you measure them all, it's got to be a subjective process Andy
Moderator YamaHead Posted July 6, 2006 Author Moderator Share Posted July 6, 2006 Very True regarding the subjectiveness there Andy I just can't believe I FORGOT to list Joey D on my list! .....MAJOR contributor to the sport!

Pete
You know my answer! And Rossi isn't fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Hailwood....let alone Saarinen. Could he go to Oliver's Mount in Scarborough and win 3 races in one day having never seen the course before? No....he'd shit himself!
