Hi all, I am new to this whole owning a bike and having to fix it lol.

I bought a yamaha XJ400 diversion 1999 model but it wont run. I have redone the carbs, spark plugs and battery.... once i give petrol the bike just dies. what can i do?

Please help, im at wits end here.

Howzit BG46!

I'm no expert, but the first thing I'd check is the idle speed and carb balancing.

Have you checked that the fuel line is clean, HT leads & ignition coils are in good nick, etc?

Let's not turn this thread into a workshop one please. This is not the place for it.

The same question is in a new thread in the streetbikes section of the forum. Please direct all help to that post.

Thanks.

Hi BG, welcome to the YOC :wavey:

Try the kill switch, times I have fallen for that. Plus the side stand switch will cut the engine, so you do not drive with it down.
