dsb2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 again im stuck lol. i have a m6 thread thats well fecked so im gonna go next size up to m7 my dilemma is how do i go about it do i drill a 7m hole ten tap it thankz in advance peepz
Moderator drewpy Posted May 16, 2014 Moderator Posted May 16, 2014 for metric the drill size is thread size less pitch. so for an M7 with 1.25 pitch you need a 5.75mm drill bit.
Moderator Airhead Posted May 16, 2014 Moderator Posted May 16, 2014 maybe a 5.5mm if it's in aluminium
Preload Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 If the threads have gone you may not be able the tap out to 7mm. Have you thought of recoiling it? this would keep it 6mm.

dsb2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 yeah its for the right side clutch case. ???? im going to use a m7 1.00 so id need 6mm ??? do the drill bit need to be metric as well
Moderator Airhead Posted May 17, 2014 Moderator Posted May 17, 2014 i'd give it to someone to do for you before you make a balls of it
jimmy Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Is the thread totally fekked. Can you not just run a 6mm tap down it to clean the existing threads
neversaydie Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I guess that you'll also have to open out the hole in the cover too If youve not done owt like this before, then give it to someone who has Too many things to be done wrong
Preload Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I wouldn't tap to 7mm there shouldn't be enough metal left to make a decent thread it will be weak and fail.
blackhat250 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Yeh" helicoil kit.. gives you drill bit - tap -insert- tab breaking tool. you can get it right, without guess work,, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDGTOOLS-M6-X-1-HELICOIL-KIT-THREAD-REPAIR-KIT-/370774984037?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item5653e94565 1
