Hi guys...

I have a Virago 535....Starts really well when she's cold ( almost immediately)...but if I try and start it when she's hot....she'll turn over and not fire...wearing the battery down!

If I have waited a few mins tp cool a bit it seems OK again...

I am a bit concerned, in case I stall it at lights or summat !!!

Any ideas?

Cheers

Riding with the choke on? :)

Have you balanced the carbs and gotten the mixture OK?

Or low compression, . choke is the first port of call tho... :yeah:

Defo not the choke...that seems fine.... will have to get carbs etc checked out! thanks!!

I had a similar issue with an old xs1100. Turns out there was a crack in one of the coils which would open when hot.

Other simple thing to check is the gas cap vent.pop the cap open and see if it starts.

What I would do is to get the bike hot and not starting and quickly cool the different parts of the electrical system 1 at a time, coil cdi, pick up coil,a can of compress air will work for that. And repeat if 1 part is suspected to be failing when hot. This could be the start of a elec part failing.

Good tip mate. I'll make a mental note of that
